Like i said, meteor grey up to and including the moldings, then bright silver up top.
I've got awhile till i have to decide, though.

So I've been slowly finishing the engine tranny updates for the car, but not in a big hurry, because I realize there are quite a number of steps before I can put it in the car,
if I want to do it semi-right:

Degrease and touch up the engine bay
Do some -AN crap to the fuel feed line at the frame rail
Re-center the steering rack(I centered it by adjusting the tie rods, but the rack itself is not in a centered position)
Add a vacuum cannister(the car was originally na, and has an na cruise control actuator, and needs a constant vac source, regardless of engine load)
Mount the vac distribution manifold
Still waiting on a few engine harness clips from the dealer

Aside from that, however the motor and tranny are essentially completed.
Today, I connected up a bit more of the new harness, installed the accessory belts, Took apart and cleaned/ re-oiled the A/C compressor,installed the egr and fuel
vsv's(I got the proper diameter silicone vac line today). Then I replaced the tranny's input and output shaft seals. All that's left is to mate the two together on the new clutch and flywheel.

Coming soon, I need to address the to-do list above. Once the drivetrain is finally in, I will drop the fuel tank, pull out the Walbro342 and replace it
with either a 400 or an Aeromotive unit, then run the wire and relay for the fuel pump mod.

Your thread is an inspiration. That Red Engine Metallic paint is an amazing color. If I wasn't doing a black and blue theme in my bay, I would have used it. I ordered the Pearl Black instead. Keep up the amazing work!!

Pearl black sounds pretty hot, actually.

Well, today was MR2 day, instead of Supra day.
I tried changing out my strut rod bushings for poly's, and found that both rods, and both subframe brackets were complete rust.
I'm lucky they didn't fail on me while driving. So I went down to the Pull-a-part lot this afternoon, and grabbed two setups from an '85 that were in perfect condition for $27.
Even the bushings looked new. So I got those swapped in with the poly's. I had to get this done because there's a local meet on Sunday that I wanna go to, and I know the Supra
won't be ready for another 6-8 months. Also grabbed an egr regulator and a wiring harness clip while I was there for the Supra.

One thing I am doing tonight, though, is bypassing all of the coolant hoses that connect to the ISCV and throttle body. I don't want all that clutter and impossible-to-reach tubing
under the manifold, and I don't really live in a cold environment to warrant them.

I'm tired.

So, after talking with 1986.5supra_kid for quite awhile and showing him what I was doing to my car, I started realizing why it's taking so long to finish my project.
I keep diving into useless detail. Plus, it kinda sucked to not have a Supra to bring to sunday's supra meet, lol.
And on my newfound path of efficiency, expediency, and taking as many shortcuts as possible......

I am failing miserably.

Today, I decided to push the nose of the Supra out of the garage, so that I could "clean" the engine compartment.
There were a couple of surface rust spots that I wanted to address as well, but I decided not to get too crazy.

It didn't work.
Out came the cruise control, the fuse box, injector resistor box, fuel pump relay box, and a few nuts and bolts, here and there.
But then I said, why not take out the ac lines, the clutch master, charcoal cannister, and headlights?

THEN i said, why not take out the alarm horn, the heater valve, winshield washer motor, wiper arms, pop out the fresh air vents, lower winshield cowl,
and hood struts....

ANYWAY. I'm just glad I could figure out where it all went back to.

The paint I used is slightly darker than Toyota 167. Why?
1. I like it better
2. Toyota 167 is impossible to find at an auto parts store, thus leading even more strongly to reason #1.

It's a Honda color. Slightly darker, more metallic content...Might have to paint the car this color...

It's not bad at all, but I'm thinking that black is too dark for the lower half, so my current plan is meteor gray lower, light silver upper.

I just went through your build... again lol and, I have to say it's very inspirational. I think when your finished, or at least enough to drive it haha, you will be glad you took the time to do everything right and to your liking. It's the little things that make you enjoy your Supra that much better.

Yeah, I know you're right.
At this point, I hope to have the engine/tranny in by end of month.
What I have left is fuel pump and relay mod, both fuel lines to the fpr, intercooler kit, turbo install, and exhaust.
Maybe it'll be running by June.

Then on to stage 3- exterior.

My car used a Toyota paint (label is in my build thread) that is slightly darker than stock grey and is very metallic. I used the grey with a red flip so that it makes the car look very close to black at night. Personally (just as a preference) I would use a grey similar to mine with anothe color (if going two tone) that is halfway between my color and black.
That's just me though... Lol.
