Well I didn't think my post about the removal of the egr would get so much response :)
Almost every topic you can find with the search mentions how easy it is to remove the egr, and since there is a popular demand for block-off plates i'd figure that it's ok to remove the egr on the 7M. Not...
just remove it. you don't really need it.
check this topic for some pictures of the removal hose installation http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76378
Well, I've owned the supra since 2004 and I'm trying to make it a little better every year. It was completely stock when I bought it.
In these four years the car has gone through a complete engine rebuild, an interiour refresh, has gotten new shoos and a new exhaust.
This year it was time for...
fuel is dependant of the amount of air that is measured.
that's what a piggyback does. let the ecu think there is a different amount of air in the engine than is actually measured.
It's quite common on the mk3 supra that the igniton lock connectors are fried.
Most probably the safc is not your problem, especially when you have to turn the key over more than once to get everything powered up.
btw have you tried a spare key? call me stupid but it happens that the key has...
First check your timing and error codes.
Does the stalling also occur when you rev the engine very hard when you open the TB by hand?
If it only occurs under load (while driving or revving hard @ neutral) it can be a massive vacuum leak and you should check the upper and lower IC pipes.
Get a wideband sensor. Then you can finetune the lexus afm and fuel pressure to an optimum.
It's better to get a good idle @ 14.7 with a Vf from around 2.25 using the AFPR.
If done, then use a piggyback sysem like an S-AFC to tune the car in open loop (WOT)
hth
Do you mean the vacuum line that goes to your PS pump?
It's going from the pump to the other side of the engine. there is a VSV for it.
It is used as 'idle up':
1) Makes it easier to turn the car at idle RPM.
2) Makes the engine rev a little higher and prevent it from stalling when consuming...
maybe a stupid remark, but i think it's worht mentioning:
the 1st and 2nd generation 3S-GTE engines (celica 4wd turbo models) also use a ct-26 and on those engines the turbo is pointing upwards. maybe you can use a houssing from a celica ct26 ?
You can just block off the EGR on the cilinder head and the intake mani, and plug the vacuum hose and you're good to go. No tuning needed.
The EGR is used for better emission control. Make sure your car doesn't need it to pass emission tests. :)
lol okay :)
a little note on a tiny piece of your pm:
The 'fuel in' side is at the fuel pulsation dampener. fuel runs from your fuel pump (in the gas tank) to the line i posted on the first page which goes to the pulsation dampener. from there it goes into the fuel rail. the fuel that is not...
The ''J' tube is nothing more than a small tube with a restriction in it.
if you want to use it, drill out the restriction.
Normally there is a hose going from your stock fpr to the J tube, and there is a hose going from the J tube to the rest of the return line which is located near (under)...
Nope. but you're close.
It's a switch from my (now removed) custom alarm system. When armed it would go off once you try to pop the hood. :biglaugh:
The glass looking shield is just some see-trough plastic. custom made and it's (obviously) against the heat soak.
The IC cover is also...
