SAFC question...

Recently, my car has been hard to start and noticed this is due with the AFC not intially powering up. However, with a bit of patience and a few turns of the ignition key, it turns on and now able to start the car. Only thing that has changed since its installation almost 3 yrs ago is Greddy IC and hardpipes. All the other electronics (EBC, TT) turn on, just not the AFC at times. Do they go bad or something else causing this? Sorry, i'm not very electronic savvy but any help is greatly appreciated.

Mine always takes a few seconds to come to life.
I just turn the key on until the 'Apex-i' goes away,
and the normal screen apears, before starting the engine.

Usually when they go bad, it is a total death.........

Check your connections that something isn't working it's self loose.

Well, check my connections and nothing loose or frayed...all is good. At the moment, there seems to be no problem at all. Since I hardly drive it on the weekends, I'm thinking after long periods of no use (i.e. no weekends) it seems I have this issue. It's mid-week...AFC has no problem powering up and car starts fine.

Any validity in this or is it just coincidence? Thanks again.

Still having intermittent issues but becoming more frequent and I just wanted to add that the Check Engine light does not light up when attempting to start my car as well. When it does light up, the AFC now powers up and I'm able to start my car. But no Check Engine light>no AFC power up>no car start. :nono:

It's quite common on the mk3 supra that the igniton lock connectors are fried.

Most probably the safc is not your problem, especially when you have to turn the key over more than once to get everything powered up.

btw have you tried a spare key? call me stupid but it happens that the key has too much wear...
