I got a killer deal on a 18x8.5 20 and 18x9.5 25 so what kind of mods do i need to do to get them fitted on my 88 7m with H&R+tokico HP blue shocks ??
Or should i start searching for wheel flares that i don't really love ?:)

No wheel flares will be necessary. Just don't go crazy with tires, i:e stay with 255/40-18 or smaller for the 9.5's, and 235/40's> f/ the 8.5's. The most you'd need is a fender roll. Those are good sizes and offsets for the MkIII.

this thread is fantastic! ive recently gone back to a JZA70 after selling up my old one and buying a JZA80 (the jellybean ddint do it for me!) but ive kept the wheels that were on it as i think they're gonna look spot-on under the gaurds of my new JZA70...

specs are as follows

Front: 18x9 +15 (245/40)

Rear: 18x10 +22 (275/35)

now, i cant post up pics as im still awaiting delivery of the car! but, what do the pro's think about this? guards will need a light roll for sure, but do we think its achievable without destorying the body work? car has fresh paint so im a little aprehensive.

Id say youre good with those offsets but a fender roll will be a must or your tires are history. It all depends on how low the vehicle sits as well, but those are nice offsets.
thats what i wanted to hear! im more concerned about the body work than the tyres! the front guard lips on the A70 arent that strong, one bump in the road is all it takes to bend the lip and then its all over :(

Good lord... 153 pages? Forgive me for not thoroughly doing my homework, but I have a simple enough question. I run Mk4 TT rears on all 4 corners. Is there anything I can do to keep the wheels from rubbing the A-arms, other than spacing it out? They sit fairly flush as it is...

I'm wondering if I shouldn't just get something closer to a +35 offset wheel. I like the Mk4 rims though, they're light enough and I can squeeze a 275/40 up front too! Just can't really turn sharply at all...

I believe the MKIV TT wheels are a 17x9.5 +55 offset so its no surprise that they hit the control arms up front. Spacing seems to be the only way to keep it from hitting but then you will probably rub hard against the fender liner.

Ive always liked the look of TT wheels on the mkIII but the offsets are to be desired when the vehicle is lowered. Post pics of the 9.5 rears up front!

I also want to put Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires, 255/35 how would they handle around 500hp well ?

500whp will pretty much lite any tire up!!!:biglaugh: Not a whole lot you can do about that, unless you want to run dr's or slicks. You could run the best 'R' compound money can buy, and stay away from 6000rpm launches, that will help too!:icon_bigg

I wonder though, if I do space them out a bit, they'll probably stick out of the wheel well. Never much liked that look, and I think custom flares would be more trouble than it's worth. My whole desire for having the ability to turn more is to keep things in check if the ass end gets TOO far out on me, you know? I have Megan Racing coilovers, and when I raised the height up about .75" from where it was sitting, it seemed to free up more turning. Just don't like my Supra to look like a 4x4. :p

As for pictures, lemme see if I can dig one up... Here's about the best I can come up with:

they are a +50 AFAIK. unfortunately with that much width and offset, there is no way around it but to use a spacer. 275 up front!!!
What can I say, I like to be able to turn and stop. My 2000 Miata pretty much ruined me, I gotta have lotsa traction anymore haha...

For what it's worth, with that much power it's pretty much impossible to completely eliminate wheelspin. Suspension modifications will be necessary. Try softening up your rear... a LOT. My 1j only has a good porting job and BC 264 cams, and has to suck in really thin mountain (6500' altitude) air, and it breaks Nitto 555R's (275/40/17) free like nobody's business as SOON as boost comes on. That went away for the most part once I softened up the rear though. I'm still on stock twins too... at 8psi. Trust me, 500hp is gonna be a handful.

the way things look in those pics there...a 10mm bolt on space will probably be all you'll need to soprt things out on the inside, and you should still have plenty o room to play with on the outside...

your description of your 1JZ sounds interesting - how much power are you making? what benefit did the cams give you on the stock twins?

Any one knows what rim has depest lip (like 4 or 5 inches lip in a 19inch rim 10 wide) without too much modification. XXr looks good but, the the deepest lip they have is 3.75 in a 20 rim kinda big.
