Nice attention to detail...almost! Pull the seat and mirror contols out and clean them then I will give the approval stamp. Debri in the cracks...shakes head and walks away!!!

Oh the horror. The engine is missing and there's grease everywhere underneath where it was, but that dirty mirror switch!

Turns out the mirror switch in there is a no good anyway, it keeps blowing the radio fuse. The original switch didn't do that... I've got a good letter MIRROR switch out of a 2000 4Runner, I may just wire the plug in and use that.

Then, and only then, will I grant the viewers of supramania such attention to detail

Lol. Just think how much fun the engine bay will be. If I recal there is a ultimate engine bay thread:biglaugh:

That's a thread I can't stare at too long, all of a sudden my mod budget disappears. The engine bay would look great repainted, but that's if it doesn't clean up well enough. Can't say it looks fun to clean.

Donor shell. Couldn't get anyone to come get it, anyone interested was way too far to make anything happen. Time to chop... need the space to get my trailer built. I got an A-frame welder lined up and the frame chopped.

Saw these on craigslist and had to get them. Not the best shape ever, but I want to paint them. I'm thinking Duplicolor white for an updated white package look.

Took apart the combination switch because the wiper stalk was not staying put
16674902802_8f2303c621_b.jpg

You can see just what happened - Left is broken - the broken bit on the left side is where the metal ball and spring land when the windshield wipers are set to OFF. I have an additional combo switch hub (right) but the original turn signal stalk is not in the best shape, I'm going to search for a better combo switch as a whole.

Nice score on the MKIV wheels. I really like them, but I can never find a set for sale near me though. I've never seen them done in white, and I have to say, it looks pretty good. What size tires are on those wheels? I'm not sure if it's the pictures, or if I'm not seeing it right but they look pretty skinny and almost stretched a little bit.

The fronts are 235's, rears are 255's. Most likely going to go for a small spacer and 255 at the front and 285 in the rear.

I put on a 17x9.5" rear at the front to try it out, pretty close to the strut, didn't test for rubbing at lock since the steering wheel is off. It looks good, can't find if anyone has tried running 17x9.5 Rear TT wheels all around.

I saw it sitting outside a neighbors house and had to ask if it was for sale.

I am having a damn good day. I got a KILLER deal on a MKIV 94 Supra Turbo with 60k original miles. It's a little on the rough side, but 2JZ-GTE
biggrin.gif

Still debating on what to do with it... the car needs lots of attention, I'm thinking of just swapping the 2JZ to my 89, CARB legal MK3 2JZ-GTE would be quite nice...

Man, you and all your deals you keep finding! What kind of shape is the interior/drivetrain in? I can tell the exterior is a little rough, but if the other bits are decent a little body work would go a long way on making this a nice car and potentially good flip since you said you got a killer deal on it.

I carfaxed the car today. The mileage is accurate, last reported odometer reading at 52,000 in 2011. The engine bay stocktastic, I have photos. I drove the car today and it feels awesome. The motor runs pretty nicely and it boosts pretty well. I parked it in my driveway just before leaving for work today.

Interior has seen some sun in its day, the dash isn't cracked though. The seats are the only rough interior bits really. Oh, and that stupid auto trans.

between the wheels and other modifications, I could make a good amount on parts and then selling the Shell, of course using the motor for my 89.

decisions, decisions…

Nice! Personally I think I would leave that motor in the MK4 and find another 2J for your MK3 if you want to go that way, but I have no idea how the emissions and all that stuff in California works haha. I could throw any motor in my 87 Supra and not ever get in any sort of trouble, we don't even have a state inspection here in Alabama.

I have 17x9.5 R all around and it doesn't rub at all. 255F and 275R.

Scraped deck. The block appears to have been surfaced and bored to .040" once before, there are no chamfers on the edges of the cylinders. The timing cover where the head gasket meets was leaking oil from being uneven.

Removed oil pan and oil pump, scraped oil pan gasket. Removed pistons and rods.

Crankshaft out

The crank pulley was hardly tight at all, the thing must have been wobbling a while to wear a groove into the end of the crank and destroy the keyway like this. The cost of repairing this crank was too much to justify.
18256076149_04fac25d58_b.jpg

Got another crank and pulley bolt, still looking for a pulley. Crank had some surface rust, cleaned it up and sent it to Bob McKray Performance to be polished.

Yes it is in the back seat of my MKIV :D I have another backseat in much better shape, or else I'd never do this shit.

Down to Precision Cylinder Head, a local machine shop, to get the head resurfaced, new guide seals, and valve job. Block to be surfaced flat with timing cover. Honing will reveal if it needs further boring.

#6 after honing. This is the only cylinder with shadowing like this, so I've gone with sleeving the one cylinder rather than boring all six cylinders beyond .040".

Now waiting for parts to come back.
