Here are a few pictures of my most recent build of an 87 hardtop rolling shell I purchased. Drivetrain was from my 88 Turbo that just had way to many issues. I decided to start with a clean slate, which turned out to not be as clean as I anticipated...
Old gray 88
Terrible faded paint all...
Getting a pretty loud noise from what sounds like the rear of the car when decelerating while still in gear, most noticeable at 40 or 50 mph. If I get up to like 50 mph while accelerating there is no noise but right when I let off the gas (still in gear, slowing down) it gets really loud but...
Scored a set of the "JDM" dark cherry red taillights and wanted to share some pics of them compared to the regular ones that came on my 1990 car from here.
Going on the 88 in my sig along with taking off the spoiler, adding wheel spacers and dropping a little lower
Purchased the "rebuilt" motor almost 2 years ago and have not had any problems until I started losing coolant with no other signs. It would sometimes run hotter than normal on my autometer gauge but nothing crazy and it never spiked the stock gauge. Finally one day it stalled and had trouble...
First off I'm not really big into brand names, I like stuff that works. There are some parts I do not agree on being a cheap ass on, like electronics or a turbo but some simple stuff on ebay is so cheap its almost worth trying. I have been pricing out a 3" inlet muffler to extend my dumped...
MR2 T3T4 ADAPTER OEM CT26-T3/T4 TURBO 35/38 WASTEGATE
Anyone use one of the ct26 to t3 adapters that bolt to the stock manifold? I don't know if I can post ebay links but there are a few up there now.
Also just want to make sure the mr2 ct26 is the same, thanks
The plan is to swap the motor out of my 1990 Turbo with the gray plug harness into a 1988 Turbo car with the yellow plug harness. What would be the easiest way of doing this? Can I use the yellow plug harness on my 90 motor or do I have to rewire the entire car for the gray plug harness?
So the car starts up and idles perfect a/f right where it should be around 14.7
if i press the gas at all even very slightly it leans out to 19 or 20 a/f and misfires, car is not able to drive anywhere
Fuel pressure is good I have a gauge and even with it turned up (adjustable fpr) it...
Well I purchased a 7mgte that just got rebuilt. I got it for a good price and needed a motor asap because this is my only car and I was moving in a few days. I got the long block and everything looked good it has a mhg and arp studs. He claims that the crank was cut and new bearings were...
I just checked TDC on my motor and the crank pully is off by about 10 degrees
I used a long ratchet extension in #1 spark plug hole and when going from 10 to 0 it is already on its way down
TDC on my motor seems to be at about the 10 degree mark
Does that mean the crank pully is trashed??
At stock timing it sounds like there is a bad exhaust leak but when I advance the timing it goes away
set timing correct....
motor tdc (verified by ratchet extension down spark plug hole lol)
crank pully lined up at 0
cams lined up perfect
insert cps properly (done it 1,000 times)
diagnostic...
I need to get my air condition working in my car ASAP
I have a 90 and it has the r134 retrofit. When I bought the car it was only cold after a recharge, i got tired of charging it so when I pulled my motor out a while ago I think I took some of the stuff out. I know the compressor is still...
There seems to be space for 2 o-rings but is only one needed?
Is the large one in the picture the only one needed or does one also go in the gap at the end where the gear and pin go
I have a 7mgte that is in perfect condition except that some how the Oil pump driveshaft came lose and was leaking oil. I removed the driveshaft and it looks fine so i have no idea why it came loose.
I tried searching but couldn't find much info, what does it take to repair this? can it be...
I am fixing my 7mgte which had a bhg. I already got the head machined and I'm going to be using a cometic mhg and arp's. The know the block should be lapped by hand but i do not have access to a lapping tool.
Those of you that had your block surfaced by a machine shop do i have to...
The first 2 pics is the 7mgte I just pulled out of my car (block needs rebuild). The rest are a "running" 7mgte that i purchased to replace it. look at the color difference in the head, I was planning on dropping this "like new" motor in my car. what do you guys think about the pics...
? about the 2 vacuum ports on top of the tb, is it normal that they do not pull vacuum at idle. also can i block both off or should i loop them together
thanks
I wasn't happy how the car was sitting on my eibachs and tokico setup. way too much gap in the rear. the 16 inch mkiv rims didnt help either. so i took the cutoff wheel and cut off 1 coil from the rear springs. now it rides the same and i think looks better. here are some pics
