Definitely turbo. Even a brand new 7m-GE is going to struggle to gain more than 15-20 horsepower from mods. 158k miles does not sound promising. If you want NA performance, you should look into another platform... unless you're Defiant7m, naturally.
I will buy one as soon as I sort out this whole MAFTPro failure thing. I'm afraid of buying one and having to wait 3 months due to backorder. I've been hurt before
I wired up my AEM wideband and it's working but the MAFT Pro shows constant 10.0 AFR (default for no signal it seems). I have the AEM's blue wire (AFR output) wired into the MAFT Pro's orange wire (AFR input) and the MAFT Pro's free purple wire (AFR ground??) wired into the same ground circuit...
It's been done and will be done by many others in the future. I personally believe that there's nothing wrong with upgraded CTs. The problem is that they are cheap and people want to jack up the boost for 400rwhp on a 120k+ mile motor and are surprised when something fails.
Keeping the oil level at "full" is sufficient unless you do some wicked driving. That's where I kept my last Supra (the white car) and 2.5 years later when it developed a BHG, the bearings/crank journals looked perfect.
