Mike: LOL I run a GrpA Magnesium pan a 3 qt accumulator and a remote filter so it holds around about the same as your BBC!
(Don't think I'd trust a lube place to change the oil though ;) )
Check it with a straight edge and feeler gauges to be 100% sure!
Really good cleanup with a sharp scraper using it at a low angle so you don't gouge the head and if everthing's flat you're good to go!
(this is with a Composite HG)
Yep I've read mixed replies on this as well!
Personally if it wasn't retorqued within the first 500 miles and hasn't blown in 20.000 I wouldn't risk doing it at this stage.
If it were me doing it and considering your goals I'd pull the head throw a good composite HG like a FelPro and some...
Tanya: My point is even shimmed and in a high pressure system adding more volume to the pan wouldn't increase pressure so yours had to be one of those freak Toyota coincidences! ;)
Shimmed pump in a 7M and stock level you run the risk of pumping the Pan dry if you're into it for a long time!
There is no real correlation between Volume Vs Pressure Tanya so it had to be coincidence.
7M can easily get away with +1qt as it doesn't bring the Oil level anywhere near the crank while running.
A Supra @ $700 isn't going to be a good DD these cars have "issues"
Go grab something that's known to be reliable and give the Supra a miss for the first year.
