You don't need to take the plastic cover off, just pull the two bolts holding it on and clean it up. If it's a turbo car, remember to check and clean the check valve inside the manifold at the same time.
Clip - lower top speed, but you sure get there faster. Well, if you can keep the tires from spinning, anyhow. Makes for a nice drag race machine, if that's what floats your boat.
Could be worse - I spent money on an elbow, DP, etc, before there even WAS a DDP... so I've spent it twice, and I couldn't even really sell the original upgrades for much to cover the extra cost. :( But the extra performance and 'scare the pedestians out of their sandals' noise makes up for a...
That was NOT a typo. After all, I can be awfully free with YOUR dick, doesn't really affect me at all, now does it?
Thanks for the vote of confidence... I think. ;)
My machinist baked mine flat - fastened it down to a flat block of steel, then threw it in the oven overnight.
Before you do anything, test it for hardness on the exhaust side. If it's going soft, don't bother trying to fix anything, just find a better one.
Do them both, and tell each one that the other was a better lay. :D
I'm kidding... mostly.
Seriously, there are only a couple options... three, to be exact. Ditch them both, ditch A, or ditch B.
Always buy the smallest you can. The extra size will not make a significant difference in your displacement, and going 20 over means you can bore it out again if you need to.
That said, the shop should be the one to tell you what size is required. They need to measure the bores and make sure...
The only benefits that I am aware of:
- cleans up the engine bay
- might reduce the heat around the #6 cylinder, where the EGR cooler is.
Drawbacks...
- No EGR means you won't run as green friendly as you can.
- from what I understand, the EGR essentially gives you free octane while cruising...
The whole idea behind it is to keep the exhaust gas from the wastegate separate from the turbo exhaust. This gives you a smoother, less turbulent flow of exhaust, and makes for better flow.
The video section here isn't run on the same server, it's maintained by a member, so I'm not exactly certain what formats are accepted. My suggestion would be to download a vid from there and match the format. :)
Most folks seem to stick with the stock platinum spec NGKs, just because changing them is such a PITA and these have quite the service life.
Changing them is a real PITA. You'll need to pull most of the stuff off the top of the engine, including the Y pipe for the intake to get access to the...
Hmm... that would be tough. A big enough crane could pick up your car by the rear bumper on the driver's side, that way it would dangle in the air the right direction to let the oil and gasoline flow out.
Personally, I'd want to shake it though, and that might be tough to do with a crane rated...
