"Lifetime" Fuel filter dissection - With Pics

The only time a fuel filter change would be a bad thing is when the person changing it out is skill challenged or doesn't have the correct tools to perform the job properly. I suspect a few of the recent fires have had this as a root issue. $20 for a filter is a tiny % of what people...

I just got sick of chasing dreamers for $$$, tools could drop 20+k on a stereo but bleated about $xxx for engine parts. Just gave up and walked away from it all in the end.

    R154 Shifting characteristics

Sitting overnight the Oil is thick and gluggy so it's not going to shift smoothly till it warms some. A short shifter will amplify the issues You might try a lighter weight Oil, in the old days I used to mix my own to get the shift quality I desired from the old steel case 5 speeds I ran...

Gotta  Deutsche connectors. I've started using DTM's for low current lines are they're much more compact than DT's.

Pump is mounted to the Diff cradle and the Cooler is bolted to the Tow Hitch. There should be a couple of pics in my pics thread.

Oil return line question and, what to do with water lines?

Yep they have angled ones as well. Braided hose and a clamp works fine as there's no real pressure there.

These guys stock a bunch but I'm sure there has to be someone more local to you.

I have mine mounted in front of the fuel tank. I use a VDO Pump designed for BMW gearboxes and a temp switch in the diff case to turn it on/off.

For really high road speeds your combination is in the danger zone. Low Diff gears high OD % and a motor that will rev lands you a possible starved pinion bearing and at speed it only takes seconds to become square. If you're serious about going fast I'd look at plumbing a pump and cooler...

Oil return line question and, what to do with water lines?

You can buy a flange with a short extension pipe welded to it. Either that or a 45 degree M>F fitting to screw into the existing flange?

With the gearing I was running then it was only turning high 5000's (motor would rev to 8300 easily) There was no real limiting factor I was just playing around as I've never had a car that would accelerate that hard at the top end. 1st few times was with the Tremec TKO 5 speed then with...

Personally I'd clock the turbo toward the strut tower a little to smooth out the exit.
