I was just talking about this specific case and the concept that if the Key was missing the cams would have enough load to slip the bottom pully on the crank.
This as I pointed out is not the case if the Damper is torqued down, even more so with stock Valve springs, you can spin the cams with...
Not talking about the Damper...
LOL you I can come hurt it person!! :evil2:
Stop it!!
If the damper was torqued correctly to 195 ft/lbs it wouldn't matter apart from location the key doesn't drive the pully.
Hard to say with you being LHD but I "think" a set of huggers might work ok
Combination subframe brace and bash guard Brad, the LS F Body pan hangs down about 3/4" and being Cast aluminium don't dent they crack so I wasn't taking any chances.
Don't think mass would come into it if the belt isn't slipping, from memory there were 3 different size pullies available, it'll be in one of my old threads somewhere.
Composite will hold 400ish but 1 rattle/detonation and it's all over.
In the Toyota V8 I ran in the 240z I was running low comp and 30 psi with composite HG's, as always it's all in the tune.
It's a HUGE PITA to do in car, your back isn't going to thank you ;)
That and you can't be sure where all the Cast Iron and Lapping compound is going to end up.
My Lapping plate is 3 times bigger than the Sonic round ones and I don't trust it to make things "flat" due to human physiology...
Only time I ever felt this in my Mk3 was when I was playing around with all the different size pump pulleys on a non PPS Rack, one was very light and sketchy, swapped it out dropping some pump pressure and it came back to what I felt was "normal" for my car, I do however run a bit of extra...
Would be my guess, There is minimal load on the belt with the stock Valve springs, you can spin a Cam with a cordless drill.
Or he could open a Cam Cover and see if he can turn a Cam with the bolt on it's end as our Engines don't have "Rockers" so no "Rocker" Covers ;)
