Installation of the Lower Front control arm Poly Bushings

i used a sawzall to cut the bushings out. cut mostly through the steel sleeve (MAKING SURE NOT TO CUT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM!!!), then use vice grips to twist it out. worked great. :) -shaeff

    Maft-Pro display unit Ugly!!!!

seriously! who cares what it looks like! they could have molded it after a steaming pile of dung and i'd still have bought it. with it out in the open, = greater chance of theft. keep that thing hidden away! mine's in my glove box, and that's where it's staying. all about the low-profile. :)...

    powershifting?

before i swapped my old, tired GE out, i powershifted several times. (actually, it was several months before i did)- but in any case, i can tell you it's not good for the engine, tranny, clutch, flywheel, etc... after all, how would YOU feel if someone spun your merry-go-round at 6000+rpm and...

So if you turn the key, and you get nothing... Alarm?

jake, it looks like a wire that's bent in a "U" shape in the engine bay fuse box. it's held in with two bolts from the bottom. you have to take the fuse box apart to get it out. :) -shaeff

    Shaved moulding!!!

i adore the shaved moldings look, however, as picky as i am, i'd have to insist that the quarter lights be integragted into the bodywork somehow. shaved moldings+keeping the quarter lights= absolute sex. and randy's car is awesome. :) -shaeff

So if you turn the key, and you get nothing... Alarm?

yeah, it all depends on what they wired into the stock alarm system. if they just wired a power and ground in there, find alternate sources for them and you're golden, but if they wired other crap in there, you might need to do some probing with a multi-meter. -shaeff

    Spark plug Question

i have been using Autolite 3923 coppers with great luck. copper is better at conducting spark than platinum or iridium, but doesn't last as long. i change my plugs when i change my oil, every 5k miles. another nice thing about the 3923 coppers- they're available pretty much everywhere, and...

How To: basic timing instructions, CPS alignment

To set the base timing, you must have the crank at 0* according to the front timing plate. Make sure the #1 cylinder is at TOP DEAD CENTER. (Look in the #1 spark plug hole with a flashlight, or use a small socket extension/wooden dowel to "feel" how far up the piston is- but be careful!) Align...

J-tube Bypass- for using an aftermarket high flow fuel pump.

a common modification to the fuel system is a larger pump, usually coupled with larger injectors, possibly removing the fuel pulsation dampener, and an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. when uprading fuel pumps, it's essential to bypass, or drill out the stock j-tube. the J-tube is a...

Difference in JDM 7MGTE and non-JDM?

chances are that your heating problem lies within the heater valve, located on the exhaust side of the firewall. it kindof looks like a mushroom. actually, here's a picture: see that little plunger lookin' thing on the underside? pull it up and zip-tie it in place. your heat should now...

    Throttle Position Sensor??????

^ it's not that you shouldn't reply. but think of the mannor that's being used to diagnose and repair a KEY sensor in the system on our cars. then if you look at the way it's supposed to be done, you'll see the err of your ways. (and anyone for that matter) but we're all here to learn man...

New JDM engine getting no fuel

^ glad to see someone uses it! :) sometimes the answer is right in front of us. ;) just use a paperclip, or heavy gauge wire to connect the terminals +B and FP in the diagnostic block. that should turn the fuel pump on. listen by the filler neck on the gas tank. you should be able to hear a...

    Removing the cam gears

get a really strong magnet (i have two of those half-dollar sized "super magnets") and click it to the lower timing case, it should attract the bolt, then just slide it up and out. (it *could* work!) or just take it all apart... -shaeff

New JDM engine getting no fuel

    1) check all fuses. 2) stop using the word "cut" for when things are supposed to turn on, AND for things turning off. it's confusing! haha. :) 3) use a 10g wire to jump +B and FP in the diagnostic block. this will turn on the fuel pump. if the pump doesn't turn on, you have other issues. :)...
