lol, my car has had a ton of body work done to the rear quarters, but I know the way it was done. That part of the quarter panel was not touched, and I think it would be more noticeable had it warped significantly from welding. I guess I'll have to wait and see until the next time I'm out at...
a tad shorter would be ~5 mm, not visibly noticeable when the cars are side-by-side. Although, I can't see why toyota would manufacture two different sets of slightly different tail lights. (tooling and mold-making = spendy)
rinse with a petroleum solvent, not water. Also, air the tank out for a day before doing anything, this should provide enough time for the fuel/solvent to evaporate.
Clean things up with a magnet and then solvent.
Does anybody know if there is a difference in length of the 89+ tail lights based upon chassis (GA/MA series)? The reason I ask is that I have a set of JDM 89+ tails (not the dark ones) and they seem to be a bit short. Now, I can't recall exactly how snugly the tail lights fit when I removed...
shit, i feel bad about scratching a fitting when installing it because someone might notice...I've never seen somebody use a hose clamp on a braided hose before. I do want to see pictures, however...
For a competent welder, this should be easy. For somebody that thinks they are a good welder but does things like cool off freshly welded parts by dunking them in water, this could be a nightmare.
The word is encrusted. It is unlikely that the wheels were looking after diamonds for somebody.
That, and what the hell is wrong with wheels and new tires for $800? Last I checked, tires aren't free.
Do a google search for instructions on how to assemble aeroquip/AN hoses - there are plenty of sites with information on how to install the hose fittings.
I used POR-15 rust paint as a base layer with a topcoat of chassiscoat black (2 coats each). The finish is extremely durable and is UV safe.
edit: the subframes were sandblasted prior to painting.
