spend the money the first time. you should be able to get good pistons for $800 or so. i bought a freshly rebuilt short block, with all new factory parts..... and i think i'm going to put in forged pistons and 2jz rods for extra insurance before i even throw it in the car.

would 620's be too mush for that setup? i have a set of 560's that actually flowed 620 when tested.

they need to be at least 8" wide, and have a good offset to not look like crap.

it looks like the "sport" springs may be progressive, but i can't find anything on the "race" springs.

here's my question IJ. if the top 5 coils are touching, what would it hurt to cut 1 or 2 off? i just looked under the car, and the top 5 are totally flat against each other. i can't see them having anything to do with the actual spring, other than the height.

no offense taken destrux. i was just a little frustrated with the car after working on other peoples cars all day. i didn't type in caps to yell, the caps lock is always on at work. lol at the time i was second guessing my decision to spend so much on the parts instead of getting coilovers...

here's a pic of my setup. 18x8 +40 and 18x9.5 +35. 235-40 and 265-35 nto5's. the car is lowered on h&r race springs and kyb gr2's. i need to space out the wheels 15mm in front and 10mm in back.

the springs are brand new h&r's. i guess i'll have to live with it until i can get coilovers.

kind of off topic.... what are everyone's feelings on cutting a coil off the rear springs? the front of my car is a good inch lower than the rear. i figured it would help level it and hopefully not hurt anything.

i just did h&r race springs with kyb gr2's. they were supposed to be a 1.5 inch drop front and back, but the fronts are like 2.5 and the rear 1.5. it's not horrible, but there's definitely some rake going on here.

i was just really frustrated with the car. I had just spent all day at work, working on cars and i stayed after to do this. It just seems like every time i try to fix something on it, there's other problems.

Just so everyone knows...... I did pay attention to how they came apart. I went as far to buy everything new. There were no spacers at all. I just took apart the stock struts, and there were no spacers on them either. I ended up adding a couple washers under the strut bolt and it's all good...

there were no spacers with the struts or mounts. i tried tightening them in the driveway with the car on the ground. i'll just have to take it all apart and figure it out after work tomorrow.
