so i just spent the last 3 hours installing struts and springs on the supra. i got everything new.... springs, struts, mounts, and boot kits.
half way home i hear a rattling sound from the back of the car...... looks like the main nut on the rear struts is loose????? i know i tightened them...
i don't know the price yet, but the local vision ford store has an 89 supra for sale. 29k original miles. very nice red color with gray interior.
it's a non turbo, auto, hardtop. the car is in MINT shape.
if i can find out the price i'll post it for you guys.
quick update.....
i changed the two clamps at the throttle body, and i took the boost controller off. i ran the vacuum hose from the turbo directly to the wastegate.
on the highway it hit 8 psi and rose to 10, with no fuel cut. when i launched from a light, it hit fuel cut when i shifted...
just for reference.... here's my stock height mk3 with tsw thruxtons. 18x8 +40 front, and 18x9.5 +35 rear. the tires are 235-40, and 265-35 nitto nto5's.
after i lower it and check the clearance, i'll probably add a 15mm spacer up front and a 10mm in back...
this.................. my "new" wheels and tires. 18x8 +40, and 18x9.5 +35

don't worry, my kyb's and h&r springs will be on by the weekend. :)
just picked up some nto5's. 235-40 and 265-35 18's. going to put them on my 18x8 +40 and 18x9.5 +35 tsw thruxtons.
i know, i know, i'm going to need at least front spacers to make it look good. that's ok, because got the wheels for $100, and the tires for $450. :)
thanks. i'm going to check into a boost leak. i know the clamp at the throttle body is bad, but i totally forgot to change it. that could be the whole problem.
i have an autometer. i was under the impression that you could get 12 or 13psi without hitting fc. i can get to 10 or so, but it's just weird that it's intermittent.
i'm hitting fuel cut randomly and had a couple questions.
my mods are cone filter, bic ddp and full 3" exhaust. i have a cheapo boost controller set to 9 or 10 lbs. sometimes the car runs like a raped ape, and other times it hits fuel cut.
the question is.......... can i hook up a fcd if i...
cool. i have a lex afm, walbro 255, an afcII, and 560's right now. the injectors actually flowed around 620. i was waiting to get a afpr before i install everything. i also have a fcd that i could use right now.
i'd be happy to get 10-12psi out of it before hitting fuel cut. i just took it out...
buy a 25ft roll of the size line you need, and try to reuse the old fittings. you will need a flare tool and some patience. there's no way that's a $600 job. it should pay 2 hours at most.
i'm sure there's a pic somewhere, but i can't remember if i saw it here. whet would this setup look like?
mk3 supra............ lowered 1.5 all around with. ..... 18x8 +40 235-40 18 and 18x9.5 +35 265-35-18.
thanks for the help
wow. after reading what mr lunsford did with the 440's, it seems like for anything under 400hp the 550's would be overkill. it's definitely an interesting read.
When there's new struts taking up all the space on your toolboX at work.
Or when you log onto supramania between every car at work.
AND........... WHEN YOU BUY NEW SUSPENSION PARTS EVEN THOUGH YOUR CAR STILL DOESN'T RUN 100%.
i installed my rear driftmotion brake lines. i also spent a bunch on new suspension. :(
i ordered kyb gr2's, b&g springs, new mounts and boots. i ended up spending about $600, but $200 of that was for the mounts and boots. my boots were shot and i'm pretty sure the mounts are original. i...
Ok guys. I ordered the b&g springs from driftmotion, and got the struts locally.
Last question..... Do i need anything else to make the shocks work? Are the strut boots and mounts the same?
Thanks again.....
