    tuning issues..

How about a tooth off on your CPS? 12+ on the exhaust cam is going to change your ignition timing quite a bit, I think. Have you put a timing light on it? (12 degrees at the cam is 24 degrees at the crank, right?)

    7m-ge hg torque specs

Hell, I remember reading that Reg was going to go buy that set of bolts. I know the engineering company that ran the tests. This is why I said 72, and not 75. As soon as the bolts hit the plastic region, the clamp load goes down, and you don't get to re-use the bolts. ARPs are good for 85, at...

    Looking for help

What are your goals for the car? What is your budget to get there? How much of the work can/will you do yourself? How much time/money are you willing to spend on maintenance? There are a lot of MAF translators. Most work just fine. Do you know what you have for fuel injectors? It seems to me...

    Calling all cruise control experts!

Cancel inputs are: Park Brake Switch, Brake fluid level low switch (Implied by Park Brake Switch) Brake light switch Clutch Cruise Switch Neutral Start Switch/Clutch Start Switch Cancel Switch I would investigate the Neutral Start Switch possibility, since that could be affected by...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

You're supposed to bleed the rears first. Bleed brakes in reverse order of distance from the master cylinder (Or, with ABS, distance from the ABS actuator.) Probably, though, you'll be fine. I tried to repair my slipring. I have trouble with turning the cruise control on and off on my car, most...

    Mark 5 MK III ??

What?! Well, if nobody else is going to say it... "The Sawblades are on backwards." To be fair, we have zero info on the mechanical condition of the car, we also have no idea of that the seller is asking for it. If it's a decent running, non BHG 7M-GE, selling for a few hundred bucks (IE: less...

    Mark 5 MK III ??

Go Speed Ricer! Too bad it's in such sad shape. Actually, I think that I'd have liked it before it got all that rust.

    Light Switch on 89 Supra

If it's just to get headlights working until you get the replacement switch, at the #2 integration relay, under the dashboard: Pin 14 controls the pop up headlights. Ground this, and the lights come up. Ground pin 3 to leave the lights up with them off. Pin 10 controls the headlights...

    Recirculating BOV/BPV. Let's see them.

I have a recirc fitting on my '89 for my HKS SSQV. It gets rid of the riceboy whistle, and lets the air out through a 1" fitting. I fit an angular hose I found at a parts store back to the turbo intake, like stock. This works great for the 60-1 turbo. The '90 has a Greddy style BOV, also with a...

Need some advice on buying a supra mk3 91

I'd like to think that the Mk3 Supra isn't nearly this bad, but on the budget that the OP has, it might as well be. You're looking for a car that's already low dollar. That means that it has issues. The ones that you can just get in and drive aren't cheap. The ones that are cheap need work. Not...

Wrecked my 89 M/T turbo shell on the way to the paint shop yesterday (7/12/2013)

Considering that I put a 1987 yellow plug ECU/7M-GTE/R154 in my '89 chassis, I'd say that the odds of it working with a 1990+ are slim and none. It will work with any 1989 chassis, either 1989, or 1989.5 AFAIK, and will work with some caveats with a 1986.5-1988 chassis. The one difference that...

Vaseline Targa fix. Yes or no?

First, determine where/why it's leaking. This will determine exactly what you can and can't do about it. For example, mine (which have been siliconed :p )were leaking under the seal itself, not between the targa and roof seals. I reset that, and if I torque the roof down enough to get the...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Finished wiring the Zeitronix datalogger and Apexi AVC-R into my field harness. The red bullet connectors are for the O2 sensor. The Zeitronix can fake the narrowband signal from the wideband, allowing me to trick the TCCS into running slightly rich or lean in closed loop operation. Once I have...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Finally got around to cleaning the gunk out of my center console. PO spilled something in there (Pop? Hope so. Anything else that sticky I don't want to contemplate.) I took the whole center console out, removed the mirror and seat switches and washed it in the bathtub, then cleaned the tub. It...

    Timing cover deck issue

If you want to know if they can just deck the cover without re-doing the block... that depends on the machine shop. You tell them that you need a gasket sealing surface. I don't think that the deck surface area of the timing cover is large enough for it to guarantee flatness with the block...

    Quick oil pan bolt question

Thanks, IJ. I'll shelve the idea for now, and just keep a good eye on the oil pressure gauge. I just figured that with that nice bolt hole in the oil pan where the factory cooler used to go, I could use it for something else.

    Quick oil pan bolt question

Is that what those are called. I love those. On the subject of grounding the car and losing an engine, I've been trying to determine how to rig an oil level switch in the pan of my new 7M. Setting it to the height specified by the dipstick isn't too big an issue, it's figuring out that that...

Need some opinions on freshly rebuilt 7M running issues.

Any time I hear of a 7M-GTE running rich, I immediately want to check for boost leaks. I don't think that it's TPS. Does your Truboost allow you to monitor injector duty cycle? (My Apexi AVC-R does, so I thought I'd ask.) It's a good thing to be able to monitor, particularly when diagnosing FCO...

    7m-ge hg torque specs

Factory head bolts are good to 72 ft-lbs. That's the point where they are still in their elastic range (IE, they don't permanently stretch) More than that, and you could end up with less actual clamping force.

need help stuck on the road

Was going to say that killing power to the igniter will also keep the tach from moving.
