    elecrticity, how i hate thee

Ok so I did a search and didn't come up with a diffinitive answer on all the issues that I am having. I have a VERY stock 87 n/a. It still has the original exaust, though rotted some by the NY winters. From the time that I bought the car the backlight for the radio never worked. No big deal...

    101MM Stroke 7MGE

I've been following this build for awhile cause I plan to stay N/A, but you have some resilliance. Three years in the making and I would be in the federal pen by now. Thanks for keeping our N/A dreams alive this long.

    7mge into 87 fc rx7

Yes it's set up as a "traditional" distributor set up found on most domestics prior to the coil pack design. One coil sends power to the distributor and it, not the coils sends power to the spark plugs.

    Bad news

Good news for all. She is back up and running again. It was just a timing belt. I soooooo missed my car while I was gone. I hope that it makes it to NY all right.

    Bad news

Thank you guys for this info. It's hard for me to get to a comp to find any info and evne harder for me to get to the guy that's working on it. I will put a call in and see what I can come up with. I hope that I can have it fixed before I get out of AIT here in Ft. Jackson. I got 10 weeks to get...

    Bad news

I left for the Army 2 months ago. Right before I left my beauty died on me. I found out that it was the timing belt that shredded. The guy that is working on it while I am away says that I have valve damage. I would like to hear from some of you guys to see if that is even a possablity. I don't...

Let's talk about the good old ACIS.

It kinda does "kick" in. It is set to change over at 3800-4000 rpm and a certin percent of throttle. It kinda is like v-tec without different cam profiles. Quick edit: Thanks for pulling the numbers out of the TSRM. I was being lazy but I remembered that it was there if they wanted to know it...

Let's talk about the good old ACIS.

I know that but the way that some people describe it it sounds like they get a huge kick in the pants.

Let's talk about the good old ACIS.

I think everyone is being a little over zealous in their description. It is something that you can feel though.

Let's talk about the good old ACIS.

At about 3800-4000 I get a little push, no kick. I had read in the TSRM that it was supposed to be around that range depending on the TP. I didn't read in the TSRM about it "kicking" anything.

Let's talk about the good old ACIS.

There have been people who have tried to leave it open all the time manually and what not with no gains. If you are keeping things stock up top you might as well not change the ACIS.

    tps problems

My car almost always idles at or around 1k. Part of it depends on if you have the a/c turned on. It will kick the idle up.

    Engne Management options?

All I am planning is cams, head work and exaust. I just thought that the stock ecu wouldn't be able to handle the cams. the timing can be adjusted manually but the a/f and fuel has to be manually controled. I have no intentions of going turbo or any thing wilder than those mods mentioned above...

    Piston to Valve clearence ?

Take the clearence when the valve is seated and the piston is at TDC and subtract the distance that the valve travels(i.e. lift of cam) and that should be it????

    Engne Management options?

So is the SAFC ok for supporting mods like cams and exaust in an NA? Or is there risks in running something so simple? I would like to get something like this without getting into anything too complex. the mods are gonna cost enough, I don't want to risk anything by going with a cheap(i.e...

    Engne Management options?

So is SAFC a piggy back more so and MAFT more of a stand alone?

    Cams

For some reason I don't think that my girl will understand why she didn't get any toys. On the plus side she likes the way my car sounds. She's 5 so she is easily amused.

    can you identify the part

As long as you have room to do it. I don't think the hose length changes anything.
