Wow I gotta say I love the look and the idea of the intake, it really transforms the 7mge look and with cooler air! Great workmanship, I love to see quality custom fabrication
Nice build thread! I like the videos too. I'd say the next step in your quest for 500hp would be to build the engine with forged internals, oiling etc. you need a solid foundation to build from and have confidence in. Best of luck!
Hey guys, was just reading through the last couple pages and I've gone through similar feelings about my supra. I almost sold mine a little while back when I chose to go back to school and change careers but I couldn't do it. Thing is I've been a car guy all my life, I even became a licensed...
No i haven't. I've been busy with work and stuff. Hopefully monday or tuesday I will be able to work on the car and test fuel pressure.
Also in my experience a bad O2 will cause the car to run extremely rich with black smoke coming from the exhaust.
I was going to post up a thread on a similar issue until I saw this one.
I'm experiencing pretty much the same thing except in my case it seems to be intermittent. The car more often then not will bog down under load at random rpm points, and sometimes it won't rev up when the car is parked...
Nice car and good progress!
I`m sorry but I had to laugh when I read about your fan shroud exploding because the exact same thing happened to me after my rebuild. I took the car for it`s first drive with the fresh engine and heard a huge crash from the engine, no flying debris though just...
Sounds like a fun hobby, I've always wanted to participate in an endurance race.
As for checking codes... wow lol. Read this: http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/TechTips/engine_error_codes.aspx
You can access the TSRM from that site in case you were't aware.
I just went through your build... again lol and, I have to say it's very inspirational. I think when your finished, or at least enough to drive it haha, you will be glad you took the time to do everything right and to your liking. It's the little things that make you enjoy your Supra that much...
Thanks for the reply.
It was pretty dark when I went to check codes, perhaps I jumped the wrong terminals by mistake? Still doesn't really explain the rough idle.
Anyway, hopefully I'll get a chance to work on the Supra this weekend.
Thanks again,
Chris
So lately I've noticed the throttle valve occasionally slamming shut when I release the gas pedal. I figured I would swap out the dashpot for a spare one but, as I was driving the car home I hit a decent bump in the road and the CEL came on. Great, right? So the code turned out to be 51, and the...
