Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

Apparently 2 owners ago white gauge faces were installed and later removed by that owner, and the speedometer needle wasn't lined up correctly when it was put back on last time.

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

I know there are companies that do certified calibration and they've been around since before the days of electronic speedo's but I don't know what exactly they do to a mechanical speedo to calibrate it. Typically when a speedo quits operating on the auto tranny it's the 90 degree elbow...

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

Well I know it tachs identical to a 3.73lsd MA70 89 Turbo 5-Speed on the interstate rolling side by side down the freeway so I assume it's got the same diff ratio as that MA70 89 Turbo and I know from 89+ MA70 Turbos ive owned before that just under 3k rpm's with that ratio in top gear on stock...

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

So you've got a tranny geared for the JZA70's 4.10 rear end but have a MA70 Turbo's 3.73 and yours shows slower than your actual speed? That's the opposite of mine's behavior which is why I'm confused. Are you on stock tire size?

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

Okay, not to jack this thread but I've got one for y'all and I could really use some help with it... I just picked up another MkIII last night from about 40 miles away from here. A friend brought me there and then followed me back home in his 89 Turbo 5-Speed MkIII that became my speed and...

Dyno'd my car tonight... get ready to laugh

Well when you have a flapper afm like the 7M-GE does it really doesn't matter if a little of the K&N oil gets into it but yes you do have to be careful when oiling the FIPKit on a 7M-GTE Supra to prevent the Karman Vortex's electronics from getting fubar'd by the filter oil. If you still have...

Dyno'd my car tonight... get ready to laugh

Hey all, Y'all do realize that above and beyond the obvious tons of miles it's got on it he could have a "midas special" pea-shooter exhaust with a "super-mega quiet" suffocating muffler, or waaaay too big an exhaust for N/A's with a monster fart-can and too little back-pressure, retarded...

    dash lights not working!

It's not a "problem" with the dimmer per se... If you leave any adjustable control unused or unadjusted for long enough it will become intermittent. Leave your car sitting long enough and your fuel level sender will flake too... amhik... If it's really the dimmer rheostat you can bypass it...

Flipup headlights on when down, off when up?

You said "I finally got power to the car and was starting to test things". What's the history of the car that made it not have power? Yes, sounds like a logic problem, possibly just a basic wiring reversal issue. When you turn the switch on and they go down, do they come on (actually...

Vector89T (now 90T) white package finally underway!

Congrats Dave on getting it back to damn good lookin' again! Sure looks a LOT better than it did sitting in my yard last year! :) Actually, once he's got it back together it'll look a lot cleaner at all times than any color besides maybe silver/grey no matter how dirty it gets... Plus...

    Maroon supra paint job

Hey y'all... I'm the guy Vector89T was talking about and here's what I can tell 'ya... First off... Uh, no... A fully loaded 86.5 could have everything except turbo, yes that even includes ABS and SuperMonitor but those two options availability just depend on the production date. Early...

Hey Todd, Sorry for the delayed response! I actually live in Slidell and haven't been to Lafayette in about 18 months. My Super Red Turbo 92 Supra has been sitting with a blown head gasket for several years because of Katrina, work, the machine shop taking forever, and a few other things...

    4 door supra...

Are the LS brakes really that much bigger? I remember the early LS400's had wimpy brakes and they even had the Cressida wheels on 'em for the first few model years and I know they did a brakes upgrade to the LS within the first 2-3 model years but was it really that much bigger, like even...

    4 door supra...

It's definitely a car almost noone would suspect of being really fast and it's also a car you don't see on the roads very often anymore since most of 'em suffered BHG's between 60k and 120k miles tops just like the Supras and by then they were old enough that most owners gave up on 'em...

the ford probe guy is changing to a yota guy

My only FORD experience was more like F.O.R.M... typically a $400-ish repair bill about once a month or maybe 6 weeks if we were lucky on the 8 year old first model year 200c.i. I6 powered '78 Fairmont that I was allowed to drive to and from college 'till after 3 years of pain in the ass with...

the ford probe guy is changing to a yota guy

I remember back in 1993 in Houston I was on my way home in my 100% stock >110k miles on it '83 P-Type 5-Speed N/A MkII Supra, came up to the last light before my street (about a mile), this dark reddish orange thing in a style I hadn't ever seen before came up next to me at the light and...

the ford probe guy is changing to a yota guy

Trouble? I guess I'm just lucky or something? Aside from occasional BHG's over the years I've had some nice MkIII's and some badly neglected total pile beater MkIII's, dealt with the fluid leaks and related neglect issues, checked the oil and coolant levels religiously, and beat the hell out...
