Okay, I missed that. The timing monitoring and timing control are both on different parts of the circuit. The R7 resistor is only connected to the MAF freq input line and is only used for MAF input. If you're using timing monitoring which uses that input the R7 resistor does need to be removed...

Wow, still not getting anywhere with this? I used a Toyota gasket when I did my HG and there was a seal in that location, can't rely on pics to show everything.... Then again, plenty of people have used plain paper gaskets and RTV iin that location without problems. I suspect something else is...
