I believe Apexi is one of the makes of choice. This has been discussed on here quite a number of times though. Perhaps a search? I'd try "spacer recommendation" for starters.
??? They never drilled out either.
The plug in the pan is blocking the return for the GTE's oil cooler.... which is a crap setup overall as it is.
Have fun with that. I'm planning on pulling the engine and having the stock drain location opened up. I've got some balanced rods I need to...
Seemed obvious enough, but I figured I'd best make sure... this car's hurting as it is. Shouldn't be so worried though, I'm pretty sure its got a massive boost leak. ;)
Thanks.
Oh, and thanks 90T04. This one is the opposite in that it pushes the gate open, but the same principal applies...
Nah, just emphasizing it. ;) That port opens into the main galley after the filter, same one the stock feed and oil pressure sender are connected to.
You want the drain as high as possible and NOT lined up with anything moving. The crank and counter weights will throw oil at the return...
Hey, I've got a GTE here with a Turbonetics upgraded turbo. It's got a dual reference wastegate (NOT a poppet though, it pushes open not pull). Anyone here able to tell me real quick how this is plumbed? Do I just plumb the outer to the manifold and leave the inner open on a filter?
I need to...
Yes, the boost pressure sensor is only used for the boost gauge.
Yes, it's a "pressure port" ;) You could feed a turbo from there or from the plugged port near the oil pressure sender.
Looking back over my initial post, it was poorly worded with regard to turbo charged systems. I maintain that there is a point where a turbo charged car's exhaust is inhibited by the turbo (see not boosting) and too large of an exhaust route. There is a point where the turbo has to catch up and...
Wrong. It takes energy to move ANYTHING. Dunno where you think it's magically coming from. The amount of loss relative to the loss incurred in a N/A engine is extremely less percentage wise, but any way about it there IS ALWAYS LOSS. The turbo itself causes losses in exhaust efficiencies.
The cat could be omitted if the length of the exhaust piping were properly tuned for the desired load range and emissions wasn't a factor. Not really an option on a street car. The cost of tuning an exhaust alone is extremely high. There's no system that's perfect for all load ranges either. You...
Here's a little more for you. The larger the pipe diameter, the lower the velocity. The lower the velocity the colder the end gas when it exits the system. The colder the end gas the more likely you are to create back pressure. Back pressure is BAD. Cat's also raise the temp of your exhaust...
Well, while we're all on track with everyone agreeing with me (which I am TOTALLY ok with :naughty: ) let's not keep suggesting certain things, such as cranking the car, until we check on some other things... such as making sure there isn't a valve sitting in a piston, a stray valve shim eating...
I'll let you know about that tomorrow... I can tell you how loud one shim that's got .01" too much clearance sounds though... ARGH! (EDIT: Oh, and after this I highly recommend everyone make a little time to check their clearances... I had only 3 shim clearances that were within specs.)
I'm...
I bypassed mine largely due to not knowing better... I was constantly pulling the intake off at that point and it was quite simply "in my way". :icon_razz
Personally, I would like to add a temperature regulated control valve/bypass. Something that on cold days would open and allow the coolant...
No... that's not it... but it's something like that. I think it actually starts with a "G"... or was it a "W"? hmmm, I'll post back if I think on it.
I REMEMBER!!!! It rhymes with Exxon! (or was it Chevron?)
Wow, we get more info and everyone drops out? chumps.
Ever smell burnt electronics? If it smelled anything like that then look over all of the wiring running from the battery. Look in the fuse box as well.
Or, did it smell like french toast? Sweet, kinda syrupy or such... That'd be coolant...
