if your not getting any driveablity problems then your fine to drive anywhere. but once you start getting vibrations either from a start or at 65mph then you'll need to replace it. im sure the guy at the shop was just trying to sell something to you even tho you didnt notice any problems.

a new one there will not be much play if any. if there is play and your getting vibration then it needs to be replaced. no sst needed as mentioned, just iirc a 24mm socket and a couple 14mm wrenches.

go to the full mark on the dipstick and then add a qt. that way when you go around turns the oil doesn't slosh to the side and the pump doesn't not pick up any fluid. our pans are huge so they can handle it.

^its all in the tune. he had a standalone. and most peoples cars and tuned as good as his.
stock pistons should be able to handle 4-500 hp depending on tune but if your going for that kinda power you might as well just go with forged.

and according to tsrm if the pin can be installed with out heat you need to replace the piston.

go to a junkyard and find a supra and pull the shims out. actually i think all toyotas use the same shims just diff thickness's except for some cars that are shimless. when i was working at toyota they only had one box of shims and they all fit my supra.
