Well i started to build my own leak tester and that shit is difficult. not to build but to find the correct size fittings, the dia of the turbo inlet is 2.75in o.d but ace hardware has nothing in between 2 and 3" i.d. I am going to home depot or lowes tomorrow to see there selection.
I am...
I am gonna do a leak test on mine tomorrow or this weekend. I am sure i have one, just did a head gasket so who knows, runs good other than not hitting full boost....not to mention the turbo is ready to give out.
This is probably the dumbest but simplest questions, is the alt belt tight enough?
Do you have power on the exciter wire on the alt? BTW does the battery light come on on the dash? If its not charging it should be on?
You said the alt is for a dif car is it possible that is supposed to...
OK how do you pressurize the intake side without it leaking through the head? I can see testing from turbo inlet and blocking off infront of tb. And i can see by taking the time to take the cams out you test all the up into the head, other than cam removal? could you block the backside of the...
By hold the throttle open you are letting more air in correct? Well isnt that the purpose of the iscv? Not designated to cranking though.
BTW holding the throttle should not have anything to do with it not CRANKING?
What if i were to go the least expensive way and rebuild it myself? I am very mechanically inclined do you think that its a possibility for someone that has never rebuilt one before?
Well i dont need to drive the car would like to only because there is no snow on the ground so i really dont need to drive my truck, but will until getting the turbo fixed along with the boost leak testing. Rather it be done right than go back and re do it all again.
On the boost leak test...
I am not sure on the exact measurement, maybe 1/32 or 1/16 of an inch it seems way too much for my liking, i can hear the oils squish around when moving the shaft i am trying to locate a known good used ct-26 for cheap right now to get by until i can do something else.
Ok so i reinstalled the original set up still only 4psi, but now with out the noisy bov i can hear a "whooot whooot whooot" (sorry sound affects are hard to type) noise when the turbo spools. It sounds like an out of balance noise. Can too much shaft play cause that?
Pulling the battery cable will show alt is charging but that doesnt mean that it is. I would rec properly checking alt, not mention doing that can create major damages to your cars electrical system. Just because it stayed running doesnt verify that it is charging properly.
And a bad starter...
I actually just replaced the hg. The po had a metal head gasket installed but could not get it to seal up, and never ran it with it on, only idle found leaks and gave up. It is a jdm engine with like 50k on it, when he got it he had it fully machined for the hg, but i did not wanna risk it and...
^^^ My thoughts exactly. the pedal "moves" if it is wobbly then def checking the mounting of it. Soft is probably air in the system, and when its hard its probably in that right position where the pedal itself is dragging.
I have come across situations like this, other vehicles, but they...
I am gonna hopefully get one built up tomorrow, but first i am going to throw that stocker on and see what it does.
What would be a safe boost limit when and if i decide to up it? Based on the stock 7mgte with oem hg, some have said no more than 10 without further mods such as fuel and maft...
I have checked all vac lines and felt all connections for air leak, found none, i can only hear it when its boosting. I am gonna throw the old one back on and see what it does?
I think my turbo is about shot too, looking to upgrade anyways
ok def not hitting fuel cut car runs too good. Did notice it takes a little bit to even build boost i really need to do a leak test, its almost like i can hear it creeping out somewhere than BAM it jumps right to 4?
