I think I came close to that... when mine locked anything over 3500-4000rpm you would hear almost a flappering sound... from suction.
Also with that TACOMA clutch I'm not sure how much that would help as the few mm's back that the GTE clutch sits would allow it to willow more air pressure so...
Which radiator is that you're running with the shroud? (As i'm surprised it fits)
Also how good are the electric fans (rad temp wise?), since there is no shroud or clearance as they are right on the radiator?
Hehe..
Must say too.. I'm really curious on your electric water pump booster... how much benefit did it give your car? As if I'm interested in having one installed myself since it seems like a great idea.
Very interesting IJ! :icon_surp
Thanks for that... always good to know the inner workings of it all.
I've got my car going to in to get my Temp Gauge installed as I've got 3 gauges one for Volt, Boost (which is connected) and the Temp Gauge.
I'll then know the real temp and able to see...
I believe so IJ.
I had never seen temps vary until the clutch fan locked.
It always goes to 5bars and just sits there which is exactly half way.
Once the clutch fan locked It would be at 3bars for about 20minutes of driving and then reach 4bars and stay there.
The digital display...
Yeah might just be imageinitis lol.. that cracked me up..
What I did notice though that before driving say at night with the previous fan clutch before it died for the last two years putting the heater on wouldn't lower temp to 4bars from 5... but now with this new clutch it lowers temp while...
What HP differences are you going to feel in the real world with these lighter than oem pulleys...?
Is that a true fact? I might then go to wreckers and grab one from a cressida :)
Yeah it didn't look like the GE unit (from what Ian informed me of), and definitely didn't look right when compared next to the GTE unit I had lying around.
Car is running much better now too, she was that locked up after I took off the old clutch unit with your hand you can't even move it...
Yeah I remembered I had something lying around that looked kinda like the existing clutch... came in handy!
All finished with putting in the proper 7MGTE Clutch Fan, don't know why I had the 7MGE clutch installed in its place... guess for 2 yrs never noticed... and now I have once the 7mge...
Ian,
I looked in some of the spare parts I got with the car over 2 years ago, and look what I found.... I have a photo taken of it in my hands and then the one currently in the car.
This looks like it's a turbo one, and I'm going to definitely give it a go, the one in the car I can't tell...
Thanks for that I'll take a look tonight.
That's great to know!
Hmm so if I order a replacement clutch unit for the fan it should be the way to go?
Yeah I'll find out tonight, as it's locked up again, I was able to loosen it up when initially posting this thread but now it's locked up...
Yeah, I'll give that a try. I know there are 4 bolts that hold it together, would I need to take the radiator out to get it all the way out or is it simpler than that?
It's also locked at the moment, depending how big of a job might give it a go tonight.
If you lived in Sydney, Australia i'd have 4x sawblades waiting for you ;)
When I got my car I quickly went to the Charcoal TTR 5spokes, and then to my current 18's. So I have 8 spare rims+tires come a rainy day and 6 of them are 90%+ tread, which I don't see myself ever using except for...
Hi Guys,
Yesterday was driving around past a few mates places before going to a party and I noticed about halfway through that my clutchfan was not turning off with temperatures reading 4bars out of 10 (when I normally see 5 bars).
It was rather windy... and later on that night when going to...
Hi All,
I have stumbled into a little issue with the digital dash as it has turned off on me twice in the last week (never happened before).
One was when starting the car I realised the dash wasn't on, then after driving around the block it turned on. Upon turning back on the tripometer...
When I first got my car on the 225's I'd light up first 4 gears if I leaned into boost but that i'd only ever try on a straight flat highway.
Currently even with 265's on the rear it still has a tendancy to break traction first 3 gears if I'm on it but common sense prevails... no point in...
