A lot of people bypass the J Tube then remove the plate and replace it with a Chev fuel pump blockoff plate.
The J Tube has a small restriction to allow the car to limp home in case of a fuel reg failure and with a larger pump this causes the car to run rich.
(it can be drilled out)
From memory the T56 back at the extension housing was 220mm wide and the Mk3 trans tunnel is 210mm. (number may not be exact but it was something like that)
To get room you'd have to offset the stock seats or by some narrower.
Either way you'd need to chop the tunnel out and graft in a new...

If there was a Toyota Diff and Trans that would do the job I'd use them.
Well I've trashed 2 Mk3 Diffs in the last couple of months without a single launch on slippery tires 1 being a rebuilt Torsen with 4000 KM's on it so what do YOU suggest I do? hmmm
