    WTF Smoke in Cabin

Do you have the big grommet on the passenger side that seals the engine wiring harness into the firewall? Sounds like something is leaking onto the exhaust manifold - a bit of oil from leaky valve covers, perhaps - and burning off when you start the car. Some of it could get sucked in...

hey i was wondering if my hg would be ok

Original head gasket? Or a new OEM one? Stock torque on the head bolts? Or 72+ foot pounds?

Pic of my project for now.

We've got to move that air filter out front, away from the hot manifold! :)

Yea Hes Selling it, on EBAY.

One of my high school buddies had problems with speeding tickets when he got his license. His dad tells him, "No worries, just get a piece of rope." He's rather puzzled about what the hell a piece of rope will do about speeding tickets, so his dad explained, "Just tie it to your right foot, and...

    You Lazy Lazy Bugger!

If you're ever going to let the air out of someone's tires, get a valve stem puller and yank the valve out. Those service trucks that come jump start your engine, or put air in your tire, etc - AAA in the USA, CAA in Canada - they don't tend to carry spare valve stems, so instead of a minor...

    on a serious note

There is a whole club of people that spend all their free time screwing with these scammers - keep them occupied in email, send them silly assed requests, just to see how much they can get out of 'em. It's huge fun to play with 'em and keep them busy when you know they aren't going to get SQUAT...

    ideas for an annversity

Remember not to go TOO far overboard, for two reasons. 1. She'll think you are going to ask her to marry you. 2. You'll have a hell of time topping whatever you do when you DO ask her to marry you. That in mind, virtually all these type of dates work well with a proven template. Limo...

    rebuild time

Ok, in that case you'll need a head kit, that will cover almost all the gaskets. Also buy a new timing belt and front main oil seal - it's only a little more work to change those, as opposed to several hours of labour if you want to do it later. Also, there are a bunch of coolant hoses that...

Are you doing this in the car, or pulling the engine?

    yet another head question

Guy at your store is incorrect. Some FIPG will be required for where the block meets the timing belt cover. As for sealant over the entire gasket, he is correct, that is not needed. I don't have a link handy to a replacement step by step - however, I can tell you this. Remember to break...

Lets play the name the gasket game!

Keep in mind that the Felpro kit includes everything for both the Turbo and NA engines. That big square one for instance is for the NA intake manifold plate.

Sure, as long as you take care of the lawsuits from the icicles hanging from their panties afterwards.

    New headgasket.

Agreed. Headgaskets really don't need a break in period, at least not like new rings.

Well, I found the limit for a stock head gasket.

Another thing to note is that virtually everyone here has 94 octane at the pump. Plus, our gas is rated at a minimum - so buying 94 might actually net you 97, 99, or 100.

It's ok with me. Tim, how big can you cut stickers? And can you do some more white ones? I think we've discovered what color is the most popular...

    How to Decarbonize and Engine?

Hmm... how about when you have the engine apart, what do you use to get the carbon off then?

    another head gasket question

72 is for stock head bolts, and will work very well on a stock engine. I do my ARPs to 95. I know members who have gone as high as 125 on bigger power engines. Oh - and thread moved.
