No, the catch can is unlikely to cause smoke of any color.
The only things that can cause smoke are burning liquids - too much fuel from running rich, coolant or oil leaking into your cylinders and burning, oil leaking into your turbo and burning.
Helicoil all the exhaust manifold studs while you have the head out. Check your valve clearances as well.
Your stock engine will take 10psi easily, no need to change anything.
If it's just gunk in the exhaust / cylinders / etc, then heating the engine up will burn it all off very quickly. If it doesn't go away in short order, there is something else wrong.
No worries from my end, I had a complete longblock as a spare. I'd be up and running again if I wasn't waiting a bit for a few parts and some machinework on the spare.
Is he talking about boost pressure pushing the gasket out from between the two mating surfaces? Are you running stock Toyota gaskets? I didn't think this was possible, at least not with the stock gaskets, they are pretty solid...
The only performance chip available for the Supra that we have found is a scam.
I suppose the Techtom ECU upgrade might qualify as a chip... but it's awfully expensive, even if it does work very well.
I'm happy to report that I am currently caught up on sticker orders again - everyone who has given me money now either has theirs, or they are in the mail. I even sent some to Germany today!
I am unhappy to report that only Loki (Thanks dude!) has posted pictures of his. The rest of you...
He wasn't fond of water then - that was just over 1 year old. Now he has one of those little blow up pools (I'm lazy, so I use the air compressor to blow it up!) and thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread.
- Valves are certainly worth installing.
- I'd only replace the valve guides if they are needed.
- As much as required to get a mirror finish for your head gasket.
- Jay Marks Toyota sells new accordian hoses in rubber, or a few people make them in steel and sell them here in the misc...
Both will give you a crapload more power. The main difference will be cost - there are lots of turbo solutions out there ready to bolt up, a SC setup will be entirely custom and cost a fair bit to get running properly.
