Hey, what I have to say is important enough that nobody else should matter! <sigh> Ok, back to reality for the rest of the weekend... :D

    Thursday funnies...

Another NASTY trick to pull on people you don't like. You know those annoying little card inserts in magazines, the ones that say, send me your magazine and bill me later? Run through your local magazine shop and collect 50 or 100 of these. Fill them out with the address of the person you...

SOMEONE has to say this. I hate 'surpas' too. :D

suprise supreses and the results are in

That #6 is likely causing issues from the oil that dripped in there when you pulled the plug. That will absolutely raise your compression and burn smoke when you start it up again. Check your bolts on the exhaust manifold to head - especially the rear ones. Those will back out, (or strip...

    22 and stuff

Oddly enough, my story sounds an awful lot like CT, except 15 years further along. I'm glad to report that it only gets better. Now I am married to a wonderful woman who helps me support my Supra habit, I have a great little 2 year old grommet, beautiful house, my Supra, and so on. Funny...

    bov ?

The oil normally comes from your PCV system. Install a catch can to solve this for now, either that or rebuild your engine to fix any blowby that you have, which is causing the oil in your PCV system.

    head leaking anit freeze???

Agreed. There are actually two hoses back there, both of them are a bit of a pain in the ass to replace, but you might as well do them both while you are in there.

    Woot! Engine carnage!

I think #2 went a little lean, I have to get the injectors checked to see if one of them isn't firing quite as much. I think the bottom end is still salvageable... it's not in bad shape, considering the look of the piston!

    Woot! Engine carnage!

Oh - I forgot to mention that I found the missing ring landing. It was kind of glued to the side of the crank, and feels like a rough beach sand with sharper edges.

Well, I found the limit for a stock head gasket.

For anyone that was following my thread, I posted some pics in a shiny new carnage thread. Have a peek! http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5551

    Bottom end work

First off, what Figgie said is very true. The most cost effective way to replace a piston depends... take the block into a machine shop and get them to check the crank and cylinder walls to see how close to factory specs they are. If they are still within factory spec, then buy a used...

    Woot! Engine carnage!

Well, after blowing out a head gasket from running 20psi on a 57trim, I finally tore down the block and took some photos of the carnage. One BHG, one missing #2 ringland, one fried #2 piston, and one roasted #5 rod bearing = cool carnage pics! :D PS: 56K will have time to order broadband...

    on a serious note

I'm still in awe of the powerbook guy. He sold a carboard box with a 3 ring binder and a bunch of torn off keyboard keys glued inside it to some scammer in Europe. Then he shipped it, insured, with a value of $5000 or something ridiculous, so the scammer had to pay duty before he could take...

    Head Work

upgradedsupra did the works, IIRC. Machining, 1mm oversized valves, upgraded springs, new hardware, port & polish, new valve seals... for about $1700. If you've got the resources, that's the route to go. If not, valve seals, valve grind, machine the surface, and you're good to go.

How would i remove my valve covers

You don't have any throttle linkage? You just cruise around at idle all the time? ;)

How would i remove my valve covers

It's a bit of a pain in the rump, but not that bad. Throttle linkage must come off, as well as the air intake, in theory you might be able to work around the spark plug wires, but in reality it's going to be easier to pull them off. A couple vacuum lines over the top of the engine if I recall...
