Gettiing things together to have Josh start/finish the 2JZ-GE swap into the 1990 Supra.
I plan to sell this Supra locally, after the swap's done.
So, I have the GE that will be going into it and am rebuilding it. Just new rings, bearings, seals, headgasket, etc. I am sure that this will...
Dang it... I just saw this, but just yesterday installed the universal ones 9.5164R, which seem to fit well. Reduced some of the clunking I was hearing/feeling. I still have a more subtle clunk in the front :-(
Trying the Energy Suspension 9.5164R 1-1/8" GREASEABLE S/B SET. Universal set.
Will let ya know how it goes. if I don't update, it's because these worked fine. They are avialble at Autozone and off of Ebay, for close to $25 total (shipped/taxes).
I replaced a rusted up one with another used one, which was very clean. Got the tank for free, just had to remove it.
Seems like if it's already rusted up and things are flaking around in the inside, I wouldn't trust it much (even after all that cleaning/work).
Turned out to be the grommet. Performed the one-penny-Elmer's-glue-mod. Perfect now.
I am sure that the tail light gaskets are shot and the bulb holders are very brittle. The gaskets are about $30 a set and the bulb holder are about $35 each. I guess I know what I need to put on the X-Mas...
F! Just noticed my brake lights staying on, as I came back to work from lunch. Couldn't get them to shut off and did not want to look like the "owns an old car-guy with the hood open all the time" in the work parking lot.
I fiddled with the switch for a minute and then unplugged it. Will...
I'd hate to swap out the the sway bars, just for the bushings. It feels GOOOOOOD already with the ST poly bushings all the way around. So, I know I can just get away with Toyota or aftermarket rubber bushings, but would like some polysanyways.
I was going to use the Aristo's tranny and had a custom driveshaft fabbed up. Don't think you can use any of the 7M tranny's without alot of other work (no one's done successfully yet).
There are universal sets available from Energy Suspension. Since I've done the poly bushing upgrade, that's what I am thinking of going with.
What've ya'll done, when still using the stock swaybars? Autozone's got 'em for ~$22 for the fronts, but I'd rather go poly to match 'em up with the...
Had the same problem a loooong time ago and I couldn't seem to get the rubber grommet (on the brake pedal arm above the pedal... At the brake switch). May be available now?
Mine broke and I tried to glue it back on. That did not work, because of the type of rubber. Instead, I found 1 or 2...
I used a srewdriver and just punched it into one side of that plug. It's risky, since it can fall in, but I made it so that it would just push in one side, so that I could use the needle nose to pull it out.
You want to make sure that you slightly loosen it while on the car, but DO NOT totally remove the nut until you have the spring compressors in place. Seriously... damage your car and may hurt yourself or someone else very bad.
I did that using the wife's red nail polish, when I installed my reverse-indiglo guage overlays. It looks okay in the daytime, but it does not illuminate as much as I'd like at night.
I've got the shadow grey interior as well as the dash and some other vinyl/plastics dyed/painted black.
So, I want to get some black seatbelts instead. I would like skrait black and am wondering if anyone's used them from another Toyota/Lexus... SC300, Celica, MKIV, etc?
I'd want to still...
On my 1990, I could NEVER get the sponginess out of the brake pedal. The fluid is clear and is new, 'cause I've gone through a gallon (at least) of fluid. Must've tried bleeding 25 times and still feels spongy. No leaks that I can see.
I have a new set of lines (from the master all the way...
^^ Did the same years back...I actually picked up 3 different sets and used 2 of the HG. I picked tem up for an average of $26 each (8+ years ago). AJ USA was the brand on 2 of 'em and they worked fine.
I did always use ARP headbolts though at 72+ ft/lbs.
If worried, just use another HG...
Glad that them SouthBend ppl are doing ya right. Although it's inconvenient, at least you don't have the issues (or potential damage) that the RPS users are facing.
...There's the floor cleaning ammonia concentrate stuff at any supermarket. Has more ammonia than Windex anyways. Just gotta spray it on.
If Sunlight's an issue, just let it sit longer. I did mine early in the AM and it was still pretty cold, barely any Sun. Just took longer. Let the...
It is easy to remove the tint, just kinda messy.
They've always proposed removing the defrost lines 'cause they did not want to wait or just do it as easy as possible for them.
DO AN INTERNET SEARCH.... you may find pics and other tips. Basically, I recently did it by following what I've...
