There has been some that have reused the bolts but they have to be checked for stretch, would I reuse them, no.
If you have bad threads on a bolt it means they were not cleaned out, crossed threaded, etc.
Probably your first mistake was reusing the headbolts. They should have been checked to make sure they hadn't streched. Did you clean out the bolt holes with a tap? You said "only the ones that had good thread"? If you had bolts you took off that had bad threads you have more problems. Why would...
Well it goes into 2 1/2" pipe, no cat, all the way back to a hollow muffer, so I guess I have no collector. Yeah it's loud, too loud for just crusing.
Putting the 0-2 closer to the head with tube headers might get a little too hot wouldn't it? Why 2 0-2's BTW?
I had about 8" cut off the collector of my Pacesetter, and relocated the O-2 bung closer to the split from 1 to 2. The Pacesetter I installed had the 0-2 bung about 4" from the end of a very long collector and was angled downward. It was the lowest thing protruding from the bottom of the car...
Once you get coolant to the bearings oil won't stick to them, so it's metal to metal, probably why you spun the bearings the first time. unless you ran low on oil or was wingin' it pretty hard in to corners, hard braking, usally the rod bearnings will go first from oil starvation. I would...
Yeah they do get a little brittle. I broke a couple of mine and used them as is until I changed out the injectors. You can probably tape them with electric tape for a little insurance, don't know how much they are. If you do replace them make sure you solder the wires.
Welcome. Were are you located in the Neterlands? I was there in 63' with my family. My father was stationed at Camp New Amsterdam Air Force Base, may not be there anymore. Loved the country and the people. Kind of cool climate though.
Man you must be bored:biglaugh:
I chose to stay NA for now to see how much I can squeeze out of it, I chose to be different and not say f#&k it and go turbo which I figured would be more expensive, I like the power now when I step on the pedal. I don't really care I won't see 400-500 hp I have...
So you would recommend the Accel over the MSD?
I don't have any stumble with the Maft-Pro and timing set at 15deg, just thought that with all the other mods that a little hotter spark sure wouldn't hurt.
I have the same pistons you have and by the compression pressure I have it's looking...
Well I was going to point that out but..........
I have to agree, I've seen better quality control in a wood shop I once worked at.
They probably work very well after you work out the problems. I'm like george on this though, I'd rather spend my time elsewere rather than correcting some one...
Save yourself some money and stay with the stock fan. They work just fine, maybe replaceing the radiator would be a good thing due to the age and the sitting.
No need to part with it, there's been quite a few others in worse shape hang in there.
I've pulled it myself, just make sure you have all the bolts out.
Putting it back on is a little harder by yourself as you have to get it lined up on the pins.
There's also a right angle hose in that area that connects to the coolant pipe that goes along the head and to the thermostat housing. Before I'd spend the money on a new WP I make sure that its leaking.
The fact that the car sat 2 years is a problem in itself. I would double check all the...
