My "guess" at this point is the snout on the Mainshaft in the gearbox has/is failed/failing.
A vid of the noise would help.
I have the MoTeC in mine set to run both pumps at 100% to clear the lines for hot starts it made a HUGE difference, maybe a cap/diode/button to act as a primer on hot starts?

Mine wraps around the engine bay so LOTS this time, for the 7M I think I bought 4 metres.
I just drive the car slowly to the shop after eyeballing it so all 4 wheels point more or less in the correct direction, total waste of time and effort doing anything else.....

Ironic part of that Valve is it's made here in Australia by a company I worked at many years ago, yes it was cheaper to order it from Summit USA than to buy it here. ;)

Mine is just a normal on/off valve (the front section of that one you linked) in use I run the engine with the valve open, if the engine makes 60psi you have 50psi of oil in the accummulator (10psi base charge on the air spring) if the motor slows the pressure will feed back into the engine...
The electromagnet in starters gets tired/fullOcrap/sticky over the years, as he's done a relay/button mod we can assume it's getting a full 12v at enough current to fully throw if all was well, my suggestion was just a stopgap in case he gets caught somewhere he can't roll start it. ;)
Solenoids only really seal in one direction, if the valve is off/closed and the engine is running the accumulator will charge with oil pressure but won't discharge back into the engine.

Yep gives a small safety net for braking/cornering as the stock pan is a joke at best and if 500Ml low a disaster at worst....

Damn I don't have a good pic showing the factory stake job, it's intentionally peening/mangling the material of the block that surrounds the convex plug, you can see it easily if you have a block there.
