Always used a smear of RTV here with no leaks, we are talking about the Caps that hold the 3rd cover in place between the Cam covers aren't we?
<edit> We're NOT Doh ;)
Never had those out but I'd use some 243 Loctite after cleaning it all spotlessly with Paint Thinner.
Was just about to post that in the past people have connected them to the B+ post on the starter.... :(
Not really sure what or how much damage is done by doing this but I suspect feeding 12v to the ECU's ground rail can't be a good thing, perhaps JJ can shed some light on this one.
(I'll pm...
To add to my last post I was just out in the shed playing and looking at places to cut some vents when I noticed the Hood seal if removed provides a natural vent right where I want it!
This isn't an issue for me re: fumes as my new HVAC doesn't have a fresh air intake so the plenum is sealed...
Most logical place is at the base of the windscreen but this is problematic for a couple of reasons..
When stopped it's fine and the heat can escape but when moving it's a high pressure area so will push air into the bay but also feed any fumes from the engine into the HVAC intake.
I really think at low speeds it needs an active hood vent (chimney) so the Hot air can escape.
I have 4 e-fans on the front of mine and if you don't bring them on fairly early it get's damn hot (it's winter here)
From memory there's a Lip on the cams that sets the thrust in the head and stops the cams moving forward/backward, there should also be a spec in the TRSM for this (don't have an M head here to check as the last one I had went to scrap a few weeks back)
In the real world taller sidewalls will save the rims a bit, I'm on 18"s and consider them a throw away item after xx miles, I'd run 17"s but tire choice is very limited here.
19"s would need to be 30 series to keep overall diameters abount the same and would last me 5 minutes on our roads.
