I am going to have to disagree on the assembly lube thing. All the assembly lube products Ive used are thick enough to stay where they are put. Maybe I could see it migrating a little to bottom of a cam lobe but I highly doubt its going to run out from bearing surfaces.
Having said that, I...
start with some hot soapy water...seriously people overlook the usefulness of good old detergent (I like dish soap myself). Water is afterall the "universal solvent". Its wont do anything on big gloppy burnt on plastic from insulation or anything like that, but its basically free to try it...
Several of the highly repsected and knowledgable guys on this board recommend running at least a quart over. I ran a quart over on all 3 of my supras and never noticed extra oil in the PCV system or anywhere else. Are you sure you had the baffles in your cam covers?
Pull the motor...seriously...
yeah Im not a fan of pressure washers under the hood myself. Too many things to get wet and cause more issues. Not to mention using a pressure washer to get the oil out will leave you having to get the water out, lol.
Some carb cleaner wouldnt hurt though, break the oil down a little and make...
if its a metric ton, you can suck the majority out with a turkey baster. Then just cramming in paper towels or rags and soaking it up. Might want to remove the galley cover first for better access.
Hey Jake, couple of thoughts here. First of all I doubt you need to tell your father that you love him. Knowing you he already knows that very well, but it doesnt hurt now and then. Just be careful not to make it sound like you are saying goodbye. Hes really still pretty young, and you say they...
If the clutch is slipping now, more break in time will not make it get better or suddenly grab significantly better. The last 6 puck I put in a car was holding WOT (RX7 Turbo) stresses right out of the box (I couldnt help myself, lol).
You may be able to see something throught the inspection...
not on the supra...do you know how thin the firewall metal is? Now if you punched through the firewall and attached to the bar behind the dash...you would see some benifit in BODY stiffness, but you still arent affecting the suspension.
I agree to some extent but I would hate to see PINKS start pandering to the typical front drive import crap. I personally like seeing some of the more unusual cars (The Supra and the Cressy are good examples). I too can do without all the Mustang/Camaro battles...its overplayed.
Pulling the tank isnt all that hard as long as the tank is empty or close to it.
First you have to pull the inspection cover in the hatch area to get to the wiring. unplug the pump and sender. You have to pull 4 bolts to get the plastic shield off, then pull the soft lines off the front of...
get the WB installed farther down the pipe and put in a stoc NB for the ECU.
Your whistle might be an air leak/boost leak somewhere. Are you running a the stock BPV but venting? or running an aftermarket BOV. Perhaps you have a vac leak or pirate air coming from that area.
to my knowledge that pipe is braised/soldered to the tank and that joint can leak if the pipe gets bent or twisted. You have to remove the tank, drain it and repair the leak. Was your car ever hit in that corner?
