i've always loved the bodystyle of those. they look wicked. a buddy of mine had one. it was a nice car. (actually, he had one good one, and 3 for parts!) all with the 9" wheels.
he sold them all, bought a porsche, and turboswapped.

check the wires on your o2 sensor. sometimes they get brittle and break. if the o2 sensor is bad, replace it.
check to make sure the linkage isn't stuck on the throttlebody. if it is, fix it. if you still idle high, check the specs on the TPS. here's how...
that's grounds for death right there. heh, even though my car's a complete bucket, i still get pissy when some kid leans over it with his janitor's keys dangling off his belt.

meh, everything from the doors forward is being replaced. the only real rust problem is over the rear wheel wells, and i've got cut-outs from mello's old yellow "toilet" that will get welded in to replace mine. :)
thanks for the compliments. i can't let this thing go to the wrecker. :)

awesome. thanks for the info, fellas. i'm off to do a bit of reading.
as ian stated, the only thing about those inline filters is that you really never know when it's clogged. (aside from pulling it off and checking?) though, i suppose that after initial startup, you should just change it...
new front bumper:
new door (have two of them, but they were even colder to the touch than the air!):
interior door panels:
fenders:
mudflap:
and what all the trim looks like at the moment:
this is stolen directly from another thread i was running, but then life got in my way. :( these are OLD pics. (even before i had my mkiv rims on!)
on a side note: my new turbo gaskets should be in on saturday, which means that the turbo will be back on this weekend! :) man, i'm getting...
^ exactly my point. :( that's why i did a little research on the spin-on setup.
8 microns, eh? that's some pretty small stuff for sure. maybe i'll make a bolt-on setup just for the initial startup when i do my "real" engine build, then remove it after i get the break-in complete.
i'm...
this is true. am i just being too anal here? are those smaller pre-turbo inline filters worth it? i know drjonez lost a turbo to debris. (at least i think that's what happened)
the extra insurance would make me rest easier, as i slowly modify this motor to it's limit, then start to build a...
so, i'm becoming more and more obsessed with filtration. i know dual filter setups really aren't that spectacular, unless you set them up properly. (one pre-filter to remove all the huge stuff, and then something like a canton filter to grab all the tiny stuff?)
i was thinking about setting...
i destroyed the bushings purposly so that i could get more play in the assembly to cut it out.
(though, i did have new bushings to put in...)
keep at it. it's certainly frustrating to say the least.
