FOLLOW the torque sequence in the TSRM. if you dont, you deserve to have your motor get messed up. for some strange little reason, i get the impression that your neighbor whos doing the job for you asked these questions for you to find out for him?
if thats the case, take your motor to a REAL...
well you plugged that line, did you give the vapors another place to exit? other wise they are just gonna leak out probably where you plugged it, the pressure in the tank will increase enough to deform the tank so, make sure its vented well. i drilled a hole in the gas cap. dont let you...
yes. i plugged it and drilled the gas cap. when i feel like it ill remove that line all together and block it off at the tank, but as you can see i have bigger fish to fry.
missed this one. you are very right. it was my mistake for taking it on a long trip RIGHT after getting it back together.
i mean, i did check for leaks and drove it around town for an hour or so, but obviously, i didnt take nearly enough time to make sure that everything was good and it was...
thanks newg. i had to talk to a trooper cause on some interstates you have to use whatever county your in's tow serivce, which usually only will tow you to their impound where you will then have to pay them storage until you get it out of there. in other words its a big ass scam by whatever town...
no reason really to part it out, MAYBE sell the motor and go 1j or 2j? otherwise that motor is in great shape. has only ~3000 miles on it and runs strong.
id been meaning to get a small fire extinguisher but never got around to it, needless to say itll be there in the back seat before the car...
naw i dont think thats the problem. tho they are a bit leaky, it dosnt leak near the exhaust manifold. the leak is from a pressure source as it was spraying everywhere when i started it up the other day, and it dumped half the oil in the pan on the ground.
without looking at it yet, id say...
heh sure thing. lets see what i can find......
blahhhhhhhhhhh. just wrote a long reply but i lost it cause i hit reply instead of save in the edit box.
doh!
long story short, yes i was lucky. will be fixing it sometime soon. and to suprastic, the car was NA, i pulled the NA motor out just...
thanks for the kind words.
yeah im pretty bummed. its amazing how many different emotions this thing can bring you. ive been pretty proud of my self because i built the entire car my self, and when something like this happens it can be very discouraging.
well, i had an oil leak from my spin on oil filter relocater so i took it off, cleaned it up and put everything back together, checked for leaks and that was that. this was friday. that very day i decided to take a trip with some friends up to boston to visit a friend in school. i found out the...
if you are using the w58 tranny then after you have installed your clutch and clutch cover, while trying to slide in the shaft have a friend put a wrench on the crank and rotate it back and forth to get the splines to line up.
thats not a vacuum leak. the BOV will have no effect on your idle.
a few things can cause your car to idle like shit and have a low vacuum reading. vacuum leak (most likely), a blown head gasket, bad AFM (check codes) and the list goes on.
well hopefully youll figure it out.
look, you dont need any "tools" to check error codes on our cars. see the TSRM for the way to get the error codes.
hitting fuel cut will throw code 34, the light will go on and NOT stay on.
if it is a violent cutting on and off of the engine while you...
