The car should run fine if you hook it up just like stock. The main reasons for doing the 12v mod are: 1) No tuning around a voltage change. 2) Constant supply of 12v = more fuel to work with all over the scale.

A properly done crimp connection will have less resistance than a soldered joint. That being said, I solder most things.

That's exactly what I did, using the stock wires to power the relay, with dedicated power and ground wires to the pump. :)

That turbo is internally gated, correct? If so, it should be setup quite similarly to stock, in which case, you shouldn't have to pull the turbo to change out the 'gate.
