No an oil pressure tester gauge. There is a test gauge for checking oil pressure. Much more accurate than a cheap gauge. Need to find out what the actual oil pressure is and then go from there.
When I had eibach and bilstiens the perches were iirc on the highest spot in the front and the lowest in the rear. If you want adjustability get coils if you want good shocks bilstiens are great. Other are too as well.
I have no problems in Cali but I don't drive crazy and my cars not loud and obnoxious.
1j are like 800-1000 cheaper for the motor. That's the only difference between the swaps.

Dont have to notify dmv, but the 1j is not a legally swappable motor so smog might be an issue. The 2j can be but has to have all emission equipment and be all stock and then you have to pay money for it to be bar'd and legal.
You could do that.
Are you running stock ge head gasket? The gte hg will lower the compression ratio allowing for more boost.
