Well, lets say that they are better than nothing, but not by much.
Somewhere on the web I remember recently reading about the actual vacuum these things will draw. Its pretty poor. They also need a pretty decent air compressor to feed them.
They work, but not very well. Get one of these instead.

The flex section on a transverse engine takes a beating. On an inline setup like the supra the flex does very little and will last for a good long time.

Remove the alternator and you can easily get a 2 foot extension with a straight shot to the top and bottom nuts from the front side. Try it, you'll like it.
If the ebrake and bat lights are on then you have a problem with your charging system. If its not charging and you drive around your battery voltage will eventually drop very low and you will experience many other problems including of course, eventually a dead battery.
