Trying to put a motor back!!

That's why the factory says pull the motor and tranny as a unit. Quickly pull the tranny out, then bolt it up to the motor (on the floor). Then slip the assy. right into the car.

    Exhaust Manifold Leak

I assume you are talking about the studs in the head, and the head is stripped. You can remove the manifold easy enough. There is an insert called "KEENSERT" that is the best. There are others that are actually a copy, and they work the same. You follow the instructions that come with the...

    EGR block offs and emissions

Forgot this, oil smoking cars will eventually ruin their cat converters because the oil coats the "active ingredients" :biglaugh: inside the cat.

    oil pressure wtf

Its a BAD idea to run more than the correct amount of oil. Too much oil will put more on the cylinder walls than can be handled by the piston rings, thus causing oil to be burned in the combustion chamber. Oil being burned will cause the inside of the cat converter to be coated, thus ruining it.

    Need help!!!

If the car goes (and I quote) "Rrrrrr....Rrrrrr....." then the ******* starter is doing its job ! If you have spark to the plugs, then the ignition is doing its job. The fuel pump gets 12 volts when the starter is cranking. Pull the fuel line off the 'cold start' injector and put the end...

    Burning lots of gas

Quote: Check O2 Sensor. I changed mine and it got waaayyy better. I just got over 300 miles per tank. btw, its 87 NA. That is probably 20-22mpg. I get that in my 89 N/A. 15mpg around town, a/c on all the time here in the desert. I know I run a bit rich, but its better than too lean...

    pinion seal

Haven't done one on a Supra, but have done several on other Toyota cars and trucks. Mark the nut and pinion end so you know where the nut was before removing it. Mark the driveline and the flange so it all goes back together in the same positions as it came off, for balance. Once the nut and...

    oil pressure wtf

Quote: the same thing happens if you're low on oil and go around sharp corners, the gauge will go up and down as the oil goes away from the pressure sender. It goes away from the pressure sender because there is NO pressure. You should pull the sender wire off and make sure its got a...

    EGR block offs and emissions

Quote: What is the benefit of getting rid of the EGR? I can't think of any performance benefits for street driving. The EGR function is to lower combustion temps to lower NO, which will also help keep your engine running cooler. My engine seems to run a tad cooler, now that the EGR is...

    EGR block offs and emissions

Burning oil does not raise the HCs (hydo carbons) Un-burn't fuel. A slight miss fire, running too rich, timing set too advanced, cat converter low efficiency or not fully hot before the test. Here's my #s for my 89 N/A, after a valve job, running excellent, timing at 10*, new cat converter...

    EGR block offs and emissions

Well friends, about 1/2 the smog test is a "visual" to make sure all the components are correct and in place, and the hoses routed properly. (How does this guy know, you ask?) Because I've done smogs testing for years here in sunny Calif. Yes, your car (MKIII) will pass the test with the EGR...

    coolant temp sensor

Quote...The lower "1" wire connecter is the A/C switch which switches to ground at 160 deg to turn on the auxilary fans when the a/c is on. This connector can be used as the ground for aftermarket fans, eliminating the need for expensive thermostatic control relays. Just give the fan fused...

    omg whats that smell?

I doubt your tranny is the cause of the smell. How much water boils over?? That coolant may give you a smelly smell if it goes out of the overflow bottle. Rich running may not smoke black, but might smell like mine when I let off after speed, (I run it a tad bit rich) its a very 'icky' oder...

    7MGE overheating problem

All right young fella, I'm gonna tell you, like I end up tellin' many of my customers (I manage a repair shop), DON"T spend a nickle on the car till ya have it diagnosed by a TRUSTED professional. That's because you'll likely be throwing your $$$ away changing un-needed parts yourself. I see...

    Rear Tire Wear

Just normal turns, mostly around town. Alignment was done last year, and all tires are wearing evenly, except that right rear, which the tread is just worn down more than the others. I may just go have the rear tires swapped over (cause they're directional) so I can put the left one on that...

    Rear Tire Wear

I have been running Kumho Ecsta 711 245/50-16 on the rear. First set wore out pretty evenly in 10k miles. The right side was more worn than the left. OK...I push it sometimes. 2nd set now has 7k miles. The right tire is wearing out more than the left. But...the wear pattern is perfectly...

looking for remote ps reservoir idea

I would believe you can mount that tank, or any remote tank, any where you can keep it higher than the pump. Maybe another size tank from the wrecking yard off another type car will fit better. :icon_bigg
