i completely understand what you are saying bish...my question to you is...whats the point of having more air if you cant do anything with it? more air ALONE isnt going to net you any gains in power...
the bottom half of the gauge is for vacuum...which is what your car is in until the turbo creates positive pressure. the top half is for the positive pressure the turbo creates.

whats it smell like? what color is the smoke? two very important items of note...
sweet smell=coolant
rotten eggs smell= clogged cat
bleh smell= oil burning
gas smell= fuel burning
white=coolant
blue=oil
black=fuel

you WILL have a lower fuel cut with a 60 trim.... it will obviously vary per car... for an example my fuel cut with the stocker was around 13-14psi... with the 60 trim it was 10psi....
obviously air temp and density are factors as well...but as a general rule of thumb...since the 60 trim will...
OR spend about 150 bucks for a full set off ebay...and there is NOTHING wrong with the gaskets from ebay...ive run about 4 sets on different engines and havent had a single problem from ANY gasket...
obviously just dont run the hg that comes with them... get a nice cometic and be done with it.
i gotta say...for 300ish bucks for the REAL short shifters...the FREE SOGI mod seems like a good deal to me ;) the bushing and seat grommet you need are about 15 bucks from ANY dealer and they almost always have them on hand because they arent DIRECTLY for the mk3...so they stock them...

either theres codes that are you arent seeing...or its something VERY simple... this sounds like an afm or knock sensor problem to me..but BOTH of those would throw codes...
check that the cap and rotor are doing their jobs properly and go from there....
by slapping on a lex afm..you will gain NOTHING...doesnt matter what turbo or anything you are running...
its the fact that it will allow you 25% more airflow...in turn you can run more boost...THIS is what will give you more power.... more air, more fuel, more boost...THATS where the extra...
