Harness needs to match the vehicle, not the engine. A couple connectors will be different (such as water temp sensor) so either splice the proper connector or use the sensor from a pre 89 engine.

Any engine block will work, you just have to use the mounts and brackets from the same year as the vehicle/subframe.

Thats your problem. If you push the clutch in and wait, then put it into reverse, it shouldn't grind. Just need to either wait for the input/countershaft to stop spinning or you can put it into a different gear first to force it to stop spinning.

If it still grinds after doing what the others have said you need to check your clutch adjustment.

The newer ones have a grey connector whereas the older have a green connector, maybe that's why the PN is different.
