I've taken a pretty good look at the leather on the knock off, and it is real. Actually seems reasonably good. Since the stitching is less tight around the base, it's not hard to get a good look at the material.

Weights are identical to the hand. Haven't put them on a scale, but I'd say there's very little difference.
