    Low end power question.

Well... though there's certainly a difference between higher RPM power, and what you get off the line, it's hard to quantify what that difference is. I know that while I was NA, the low end had more grunt, but not very much. It's certainly not hard to get the turbo's tires spinning off the line...

Toyota HG design and power capability?

This is a very different statement than "when it blow I'm rebuilding and going mhg" I put my engine together with a stock HG, and wasn't planning on rebuilding it. Unfortunately my rod bearings had other ideas, so a rebuild is indeed in order.

Toyota HG design and power capability?

:nono: I can't understand this attitude. I'd personally rather hold off on power until I have something that can take it. It's much easier/cheaper to rebuild an engine that hasn't overheated and warped stuff, possibly spun a bearing, gummed up the oil system and had bad things happen to it...

    eBay knock-off TRD shift knob

I've taken a pretty good look at the leather on the knock off, and it is real. Actually seems reasonably good. Since the stitching is less tight around the base, it's not hard to get a good look at the material.

    eBay knock-off TRD shift knob

Weights are identical to the hand. Haven't put them on a scale, but I'd say there's very little difference.

    eBay knock-off TRD shift knob

Okay. Quick update. The knob will not thread on all the way to the boot collar, there's still about a quarter inch gap. I'm going to try a 3/8" drill bit and a 1/2" drill bit to core out the knob so that it threads on all the way down. Anyway, these definitely are not genuine parts, but not a...

    Quick question...

Is this factory, or aftermarket? My aftermarket alarm tells me what zone tripped by the number of times that the parking lights flash when I disarm it. I don't know much about the factory alarm, since it wasn't offered in Canada.

    eBay knock-off TRD shift knob

This Item just arrived in the mail today. It's billed as being a real TRD shift knob, though it came in Momo packaging, which my genuine one did not. The genuine one is on the left, the eBay knock-off on the right. My genuine one is a couple years old, and is shinier (Though I think that it...

Speedometer is inaccurate? How to recalibrate?

You've got to get correctly sized tires, or deal with it. If the engine RPM/gear/speedo agree, then that's it. The odometer will remain out, but you can adjust the speedo reading, which will help you avoid tickets. If you figure out the difference in your tire size, there are also offroad 4X4...

    PS delete

Some years ago, an idiot tow truck driver did something that made my PS rack leak fluid as fast as the pump could supply it. I removed the PS belt in order to save the pump until I could source a replacement rack. Under ~5 km/h it was a workout. I did adapt to it, so it wasn't a problem. I've...

    connecting rod replacement

In order to lift the motor that much, you need to disconnect the wiring harness at the ECU, disconnect the fuel system, drain the cooling system, and remove the radiator, disconnect all of your IC pipes and exhaust system, remove the PS pump from the engine, remove the A/C compressor from the...

    stage 2 clutch?

I have an action stage 3. No problems, unless you count wheelspin when dumping the clutch at wot as a problem.

    NA Cams on 7MGTE?

Way back in the 90s on the supras.com email list, there were a number of recurring threads. Back then, it was possible to search, but more difficult. What's this "birdcage" light on the dashboard mean? I overheated my engine, and now it's puking coolant from the overflow How can I boost more...

    connecting rod replacement

I was looking at doing this... Then I looked at what would be involved and stopped looking into it when I got to the point where pulling the engine is easier, which is more or less at the point where I determined that what you basically end up doing is pulling the engine by dropping the front...

    Divorced Down Pipes

But the TCCS ECU doesn't measure density. The Karman Vortex sensor measures speed. The HAC sensor measures barometric pressure, which is independent of humidity. IAT measures temperature, which affects O2 density. After all, what the TCCS cares about is oxygen mass, not air mass. If humidity...

    Divorced Down Pipes

Humidity doesn't affect fuel cut... Or shouldn't. The KV sensor detects air speed through the AFM, and density is assumed to be regular sea level air, adjusted down by the HAC sensor and up/down by the temperature sensor. Hotwire AFMs can be affected by humidity, since the additional thermal...

    Exhaust recommendations please.

Okay... So the reason for it being 12-18" away is... What? Or is it that you want it 12-18" away from the turbine outlet? If it's away from the stock O2 sensor... Then what about replacing the stock sensor with the wideband, and using the simulated narrowband to feed the TCCS? I suppose that...

    Divorced Down Pipes

Y'know those rubber motor mounts? They let the engine move about a bit. More so than the rubber hangers for the exhaust do anyway. Also, if your exhaust hits a speedbump, I'd rather that the flex section of the downpipe take the hit than have the turbo take it on the chin (And pass that on to...

    Exhaust recommendations please.

Okay, I've got 2 Mk3 Supras. One is going to be built with whatever I have that's suitable, the other, I'd like to do as well as I can budget for. I have 1 exhaust that I'm pretty sure that I don't want to keep. Stock elbow, some sort of downpipe that I haven't measured for size, though it's...
