yeah man...you jusy have to vent sometimes with these cars. I bought mine for a hefty price hearing that the motor was just rebuilt and it dies 3 days later. since then I've dumped at least $6k in repairs and preventative maintenance and another $12k in upgrades. With all the headaches, the only...
Hello everyone. I'm trying to prioritize what to do for this winter's budget. So far, I have all the power I'll ever want with my build...now it's onto other things. I usually run a budget of $5kish max/year. If you need a better idea as to what's in my car, check out my build link in my sig...
I agree. Any guesses on what boost it could be run at w/o meth/race fuel; running on 93 octane? 18/20 psi maybe?
I know that I won't really know until it's on the dyno...but just speculation...
That would be awesome.
Still waiting on a few last minute pieces of the build. I'm going to work with the tuner to SAFELY approach 20 psi and add some timing in a few weeks after break-in is done.
I'm pretty sure the 62 will get you on the list. Especially with the meth.
I'm going standalone and am expecting to see something like 420ish w/o meth.
I've spent the last 2 hours searching for Duraglides...and can't find any anywhere....
I found ACL's for sale on ebay with a Duraglide picture...but the description says that it's oem specs only and not the same as the picture.
My performance shop cannot find them with his suppliers...
So...in spending a couple of hours doing research last night....King bearings are hit/miss it seems. Now...it's hard to tell exactly what power range they become less reliable at. On the other hand, I see people recommending Cleavitte and NDC...and even just using the OEM...
Can you steer me in...
Thanks for clarifying.....although some might argue that w/o gauges more power isn't a good idea....and just for the sake of arguing....my trueboost is both a boost gauge and controller, which does in fact increase power.
Did you have a bad experience with King Bearings?
I did the compression test...and doubted myself. So I took it to a friend who has a compression tester...tested it again...same results. Then I took it to the performance shop and did a leak down test (same results as before), used a camera scope, and saw the rings and the scarring on the piston...
Hey Everyone. I am currently getting my motor built at a local performance shop. I wanted to take some guesses on how much power it's going to put out. Here is the current mod list that dynoed out at 402rwhp/408rwtq at 16 psi. I am pretty sure that I had some compression issues during these dyno...
Brake boosting for the win...also it will fully lock the tranny so you don't lose time while the auto finds it's gear. Gotta love the 2nd gear pull from 50 to 75mph...and then 3rd to 120+.
I will stress that anything under 400rwhp is safe :)
...unless you're using a standalone and have a really good tuner.
I've learned that "safe" really depends on your driving habits, maintenance, and the Tune. There are certainly ways to produce more than 400rwhp....but I start to question...
