First off...if you have any reason to believe you need to do a rebuild (fail compression test/leak down test/smoke blowing etc) then start with that...because if the motor breaks...you're other mods are useless.
Exhaust and Intake are next b/c you won't see the full potential of the lexus...
350whp is achievable on a stock block, with Lex afm/550's/afc/fuel pump/afpr/wideband with intercooler/exhaust/intake and a 50trim or larger ct26 bolt on. I was making just under 360 on this exact setup with a ct26 50 trim at 18psi.
I'm onto bigger power goals at this point...and will be...
Shouldn't be. Wait...just a quick question...did you remove or damage the honeycomb insert to the afm? When I originally swapped my afm...i forgot to put the honeycomb back in, and it ran like crap. Put the comb in...and all fixed...just an idea.
Rough idle or stall could be a number of...
+2 on double checking the MHG.
The guy I bought mine from, was 60 years old...and the 2nd owner of the car...he put a mhg on after it blew...drove it maybe 100 miles before he sold it to me. I drove it half way home (800 mile drive) and it blew again...because his mechanic did not resurface...
Hey man. Good to meet up with you last Friday. Check out the local forums at: http://www.nemotorsport.com/boards/index.php
Good luck with the build and keep me posted.
I tried to have my map ecu tuned for the first time today. It kept dying. The tuner said it felt like the car was in limp mode, and was pretty sure the car's ecu was ignoring/fighting his settings...it would run under the tuned conditions and then spike to lean and the car would buck etc etc. He...
Toyota did the original install a few years ago. I believe at that time they did one.
The performance shop did the most recent compression test. They said they will do a leakdown later on in the week. Thanks again.
Hello. I just had a local performance shop run a compression test before I did my upgrades for the year. I am a little worried about the results and am looking for interpretation & input on what's going on.

I looked through his post history (yes I'm sick at home and bored). And this is what I found...and I believe this is what he's talking about:

Look at my current mod list/build thread. That's 350 reliable hp at the wheels (with the 50 trim ct26 at 18psi tuned just below afm fuel cut). Other than that, do as IJ says and don't cut corners.
Running cost for my current build...about 5/6k in parts in case you were wondering. This is for...
It's your bov...even recirculated...the afm (stock or lex) hates it ;)
Because you have an auto, it will die when it shifts w/o enough load as well....as I said before...keep a load on the motor by manually shifting until you get a piggyback or reinstall your stock bov and keep the boost at a...
Yup...I have an auto, with an HKS recirc valve...give it any gas and let off fast it stalls. Give it wot, let off and if the car shifts after you let off it dies. On idle, floor it, let off, it dies? If this sounds familiar, it's your BOV. It won't go away until you get a piggyback/standalone...
I'm wondering this as well.
I'm in NH. You should join this forum if you haven't already. Lots of great resources and opportunities to get involved in the local community: http://www.nemotorsport.com/boards/index.php
