nice^.
so i diagnosed my starting problem............ it was actually the starter, yay.
here's a helpful hint for replacing the starter............. move the master cylinder out of the way, it's a shitload easier.
on that note, wtf did toyota use nuts and bolts down there? why not just thread...
well, looks like i might actually have a bad starter. i get power to the small wire on the starter when i turn the key, so it looks like the wiring and relay are good.
there is a write up, but there's mixed feelings about it. most of the people that did the relay mod had intermittent issues, mine just stopped working yesterday. i'd love to be able to diagnose the "Real" problem, but being colorblind makes it pretty hard to do electronics. :(
similar problem here..... without warning, my car had a no start issue yesterday. when you turn the key all you get is a click from the passenger footwell area. before i buy a new starter, is there any way to test the relay?
just ordered a bunch of stuff from driftmotion. :) totally forgot to order another t-shirt :(
polished the lower timing cover, thermostat housing and a few other bits.
getting ready to order a headgasket and whatever other ones i need. :)
has anyone tried these? they are 15x10 with 6.25 backspacing. if so, what tire size did/would you go with?

good stuff. i'm clear on everything but the timing cover. does that need the gasket listed in the kits, or will that be permatex?
sorry for the questions, but i don't want it to leak like the motor that the previous owner of my car rebuilt. :(
sorry grim. i didn't know there was a minimum power requirement. :/ i thought the numbers were pretty good for a half dead, mostly stock engine. hell, i only threw it on the dyno for shits and giggles.
cool. i found a bunch of complete kits on e-bay from $80 to like $300. i was hung up on the timing gasket mostly. i'm going to use an oem head gasket for this motor. i'm just putting it back to stock while i build a good one. :)
that's wierd about the oil pan gasket.......... everyone lists one...
before the flaming starts, i searched but found no definitive answers.
i'm installing new bearings in a used motor i picked up. i'm also doing a headgasket, timing belt, etc....
the question is......... what's the best option for getting gaskets for the job?
i'm looking for a hg-intake gaskets...
i know i'm going to get some flack for asking this, but i haven't found the answer anywhere.
are stock headbolts reusable? or are they tty? i only ask because i'm doing a very low budget rebuild on a spare motor until i can go balls out on the one in the car.
thanks.......
soooo. today i pulled the crank and bearings out of my 2 spare engines. i'm going to use the good crank from the motor i got here, and put them in the motor i picked up locally. neither motor was as described, so i have to make one good one out of two. hopefully i'll be able to source any...
