Don't assume it will be fine, especially when installing a MHG, you will be right back on here with "problems after MHG install". Do it right the first time and pull the enige to have the head and block done, you will save money in the long run, trust me ;). What MHG are you using this time...
Not recomended as you will most likely need to adjust the fuel pressure from it's base point with the larger injectors installed. You could put an Aeromotive in there and just have it hidden from plain sight, but easy to get to and adjust. You'll just need to have longer SS lines installed, if...
Thanks Ian, I've had a couple instances where it did make a slight grind while putting it into reverse, but nothing like it would do it you tried to force it in...
I have that prob. too. If your car doesn't want to go into reverse when you try to put it there, don't force it. Put it back into neutral, let off the clutch, then press if back in and then go into reverse, works every time for me. I'll have to try the shifting-into-gear-then-going-into-reverse...
If you are using another MHG or just reusing your old one you should have both block and head checked for straightness and smoothness for that specific HG you will use.
When you say NA trans and are talking about auto, they are the same either way. If it's a 5spd tranny you are talking about that's NA, then it's a w58 and the turbo 5 spd is a R154. You will need to have an auto engine harness to make your car work with the slushbox ;).
Make sure you have a clamp on the vacuum line, you don't want to have anymore compressor surge than you've already introduced since the vac. line's been off.
Ian is right. Read this and comprehend, especially on the overbores, compare the differences between them: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44148
Also, throw away that damn fuel cut defencer before you blow your shit up... I didn't realized there was another page when I...
If you plan on not racing and not boosting (well, no more than 1-3 psi part throttle) during the tank of 87 octane, you'll be fine. Just make sure you put +91 octane in when you feel frisky ;).
That's what I was scratching my head about. The r154 is NOT a weak tranny considering it's 20 years old and can handle +500 lbs/torque easily when freshly rebuilt to factory spec...
All it says in the TSRM is to reinstal NO. 2 timing cover, it makes no mention of needing to use FIPG, so I'd say you are good to go... Don't know on the vacuum line, but on the diagram it looks like it's suppost to go to the EGR.
