Would it be safe tuning a stock car with a safc on it without having an egt or wideband meter? you won't be able to check wheter you're killing your engine or not.
?
check supraforums.com, a user called 'C.44' is in the middle of this process right now and has some nice pictures up there.
can't give you a link right now 'cause sf is down once again :(

there you go.
Can anyone please explain to me why the boost levels should go up by just replacing/upgrading the intake and exhaust?
How does it affect the wastegate actuator (and thus: boost) ?
afaik nothing happens to it? To up the boost you should either shim the wastegate or install a boostcontroller...
Are they ajustable maybe?
If so, cut the upper timebelt cover while you have it off.
Otherwise you'll find yourself removing and reinstalling the thermostat housing at every change. ;)
On my car I routed the 'stock vacuum line' for the bov to my new ssq and it works great. In addition, I used a T-piece (like this: http://www.kmproducts.co.uk/images/Fuel-line-T-piece.jpg) to get boost readings to my aftermarket boost gauge. :)
So that's all. Just the stock line and nothing more.
Can someone please post up some pictures of their DIY piping?
I'm currently looking to get some piping off of ebay, and I need to know what would be the best way to fit things.
Also, does it matter much if I would take the 1.6mm thick piping? Or should i go for 1.8mm ?
Might be. :)
We don't really know the difference between his setup and mine during break-in besides the boost differences.
And mine is okay. but well, maybe his head wasn't resurfaced as smooth as it should be.
A friend of mine ruined his rebuild by doing just that with his sp61gt turbo.
1 bar of turbo pressure and whoomp, there went his HKS headgasket.
happend 4 weeks ago :(
I just broke in my 7M.
Used mineral oil the first 4000km or so.
After the first time it was started, we set the timing correctly and went on to the road with it.
The first 2000m I ran it 'mild'. Did not go above 2000rpm.
After that I ran the car from mild to hard, but NEVER EVER went above...
In addition, I have some pictures of how it sits in my engine bay right now.
and some of the (pre) mounting:
All the stuff:
Put together:
The 'short' line (going to the afpr)
pulsation damper remover part 1
pulsation damper remover part 2
If I may answer above, Yes he is.
Jeff is a nice guy and real trustworthy.
I ordered my kit with him but not before he answered some of my questions.
Answers were quite good and fast, as was his shipping. It arrived a few days after my payment even though I live in europe.
As i was reading...
Yeay I got one kit too.
It's perfect. the best i've seen so far.
The connections are perfect, notice that you'll have to put the braided lines into the fittings yourself, which is a pain in the rear.
The only negative thing I could find is the slightly too large hose which runs from the fuel...
