Well first off, this was originally posted in the 7m section but it pissed everyone off so it was moved. It wasnt intended to be a build thread.
I do have some pics posted from the head porting and ccing of the chambers in different threads if you want to see that stuff.
I am in the middle...
Well - that may not be far from the truth, because you can safely rev an engine to higher rpms if it is balanced better.
So you arent getting the gains from the balancing, you are getting the gains from higher revs which are capable in a balanced engine....
Am I making sense?
How are you going to get a "new" bottom end with a head gasket for $700?
Head bolts - 80
mls gasket - 120
rod bolts - 60
gasket kit - 100
And thats a bare minimum assuming that EVERYTHING is in PERFECT condition. So you can get all of your machine work done for $340? I guess if you are...
An unbalanced engine will vibrate - perhaps it will give you more power, but I think it is negligible. The reason people get their engines balanced is not for power gain; its for reliability.
Why does everybody ingnore the 2jzge - T? Its damn near the same engine..... I got mine for ~600 shipped to my door. They are CHEAP. If you are going big single it makes no sense to run anything else unless you want the FFI that comes with the GTE (1 or 2j).
Read these threads in their...
Its not going to "give" you any power unless you rev the engine higher. Balancing it will ensure that your motor doesnt wear prematurely - it will just make your motor last longer.
The only reason prices for pressure plates may be different is because people like you pay for it.
The 7m pressure plate can be used on a 1jz flywheel.
Yeah - I know it can take it, but my point was that you will save more money and have a larger powerplant in the long run just turbocharging a 2jzGE compared to purchasing a 1j.
The 1J is a good motor, but you also might want to consider going NA-T with a 2jzGE. It would end up being less expensive for you if you plan on making big power with your car or going standalone......
For all of your sakes I have taken measurements of all aspects of the engine and included already known specs. The block has been re-surfaced and so has the head.
These measurements are very accurate - I used a graduated cylinder, syringe and measured/remeasured several times. Volume...
This turbo will NOT fit with the 1.01 housing - I just got the word back from Garrett. The turbine wheels are different.
Damn - im sure glad I didnt buy this thing.
