The plan is to have the fabrication and welding done by the end of March, everything that needs to be done at the fab shop. We'll stab the drivetrain in it there, then I'll take it to my garage and finish the wiring, A/C, etc.

Poodles, mid April is when I'll be feeling the heat, perhaps you can come spend a weekend and help thrash on it........................

Slow, my goal is to have it running by May 10th, that will give me roughly a month to get the bugs out and make it road worthy. Once again, breaking down on the Power Tour is NOT an option. Bryan, you're welcome to take a month off and come help thrash on it, then take the Tour with us!:biglaugh:

I can lend a hand when you need it, if I don't keep having to fix the Escort my Supra shoud be done by mid-April and I will need something to work on:icon_bigg I'm beginning to think tripling the power of my daily driver wasn't such a good idea...

Much appreciated Josh, and the key word in all of that is DAILY.

The latest progress on the Maverick. Things are moving so fast, I'm having a hard time keeping pace, but it's all happening.

I cut out the dash and I am building an aluminum dash panel:

Cut out all of the suspension and installed the Mustang II front end. Once everything is fitted, it will all come apart, the inner fender panels will get welded in and it will all get painted gloss black under the hood:

We decided to go with an aluminum Fuel Cell to simplify the fuel tank issue:

Yesterday I put together an old block assembly for mocking up the motor mounts:

This week the 9" Ford Rear End will arrive and then the rear coilover suspension can be put in the car. I'll post back more at the end of the week.

I'm loving it! Making slow progress on Laura's 69.5 Maverick. I like where you are going with this, though - it's pretty much what I planned on Laura's (custom fuel cell instead of the drop-in fuel tank, Mustang II front end)

Don't want to put a bug in your ear, but I have plans to also incorporate the Supra's IRS into the Mighty Mav ;)

The stance will be awesome. It has adjustable coilovers too, so that we can fine tune the look.

Rollbar went in yesterday:

We're having issues getting the engine in the bay. The sump is about 8" too far forward, need to find someone that can build us a new oil pan.

Lance,

Have you guys tried a mid-sump oil pan from a Lexus SC or Supra? The sump was much further rearward in the 2JZ powered Sc's and Supras. It's not going to go the whole 8 inches back though, but its worth a try considering the fabrication involved in a new oil pan.

How does the shifter positioning look? Could you maybe get away with an offset motor mount and move the whole assembly a bit more rearward? If that is the case then chances are you could use a midsump.

could always notch the crossmember, but that's a lot of work... but it might be easier than making a new pan as the only one I know of that has done that is RonR...

still say it needs a pre-89 MKIII wing on the back of it...

The shifter fits perfect. That engine bay is really small. The back of the head is about an inch from the firewall, and the front will be close to the radiator. The oil pan in not too big of an issue. We only need to re-make the sump pan, something that kicks back just enough to clear the cross member before it drops into the sump area, and extend the pickup a bit.

Our biggest hurdle now, is there is no room for a decent size intercooler, anywhere up front. I looked at it last night and came up with a crazy idea of sticking a small one behind each headlight and feeding them with scoops, and maybe a small one up front, then piping them all up in a series. I'll put it on the lift Saturday and see what will fit, and see what coolers are available. Any ideas are welcome.

I hate the side moldings. The thing is, I won't have time to paint the car, but that's okay, the paint is really nice that's on it. I was thinking of removing the moldings and perhaps airbrush a brushed aluminum stripe along there, then put a rivet or bolts in each of the holes left from the moldings. I'll dream up something cool, we will be putting their logo stripes along the sides anyways.

No Josh, it's not my shop. David Dean owns it, they are 2 retired old Hot Rodders that just hang out and build all of this crazy ass stuff all day. I got them involved to do the fabrication part for the project. They can build anything you can dream up though, that's cool as hell. I'm slowly educating them on the potential of the Supra, they're kind of intrigued with it all.
