so would your adapter kit & clutch work with this setup a viper T-56 with Chevy bellhousing tilton or os giken nascar tripple plate aluminum clutch the cheap ones you see on ebay for ~300-500 new? so the input shaft splines for the viper clutch matches the chevy one?

Your saying the shifter would line up and this would be the godly kit for a MKIII without getting the MKIV diff and MKIV v160 somehow lining up ?

the viper shifter will likely fit the mk3 better but id measure before sticking to that. i dont recall the exact location of the viper shifter but it would fit the mk2 great. the input shaft of the viper t56 is diff then the gm t56. the tripple clutch should work asi believe they make the discs in teh correct spline for the viper trans as well for those 7.25in clutches.

also, this would work much better the nthe v160 and mk4 diff as you wouldnt have to modd your car for the mk4 diff and the t56 is suited more for the gears in the mk3 stock. i have a 3.727 diff in my mk2 and dont plan to change it.

ok, i was at the junkyard saturday and a guy pulled a slave from a jeep and it looks like it would fit the t56 perfect, but its plastic which i dont like. sooooo, instead of modding the r154 slave to fit i figured id give this slave a try and did some searching. here is what the jeep slave looks like that is from the same jeep as the clutch arm pictured earlier.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

then i found these 2 threads that shows how to make a metal slave to replace this pos plastic slave.

http://www.universityofjeep.ca/Tech/Clutch/Clutch_Slave_Repair.htm

http://www.jeeps-offroad.com/showthread.php?t=29056&highlight=slave+cylinder+mod

heres what it looks like after completed except ill make an adjustable push arm for the rod end of the slave that will hold the stock plastic cap so it wont wear out the clutch arm

and here it is installed ont he jeep. some guys grab the single action and some the double action. i will likely grab the double action and put a tiny bit of fluid in the secondary side then a 1in long fitting or so wit ha cap on it. the air will compress allowing it to work but the tiny amount of fluid will keep it lubed on that side as well. longer life. these peneumic cylinders are ~$18.00

p999630_2.jpg

and for the guys worried about what fluid would work on the nitril seal in the clyinder its been found dot 5.1 fluid will work and is compatable wit hthe rubber of the stock master cylinder and this cylinder. my mk2 master is a 5/8ths bore and the slave is 3/4in bore so it should be ok. im gonna buy the 3in stroke one to be safe and once its all hooked up ill install a clutch stop on the pedal if necc. if i went wit hthe internal slave from tilton id have to install a clutch stop anyway. also, for the inlet im going to use a t fitting so i can install a bleed screw to make it easier to bleed the system.

well, saw a flywheel i thought ight work, its for a quad 4. so i took a stock flywheel to napa and grabbed a quad 4 flexplate. 5 holes line up perfect. so all i need to do when this flywheel arrives is have 1 hole plugwelded and redrilled to the offset position and then the center hole bored out to match the 7m flywheel. i dont expect that to cost too much. and this is a brand new flywheel, not used. a major step toward the completion of my 6 speed swap. too bad its so heavy. it weighs 7lbs! ;)

test fitted the slave on the t56 today. it fits. the hole for the release arm pivot is a lil off for the hole in the slave to fit over a pivot ball, but ill be able to use a piec of angle. bolt it to the slave from the side and then to the trans to keep it from spinning. pretty simple. only problem i see is there is a lil slack so it isnt perfectly centered. i need to find a tubular sleev that has the right outer diameter to fit the inside of the slave and the inner diameter to fit over the input shaft sleeve. itll be a pretty thin piece. need to take measurements to get it right. forgot my dial caliper. ill have to do that later. but anyhow heres the pics.

nope. never did it on the 7m as ive switched up and am going 2jzgte instead. so it will be bolted to the 2j when it goes in. not much has progressed on the t56 swap. i have pretty much everything i need except the flywheel, which is ~$550. though im likely gonna pay to get the trans upgraded and switched to the viper rear housing and output shaft etc.. before it goes in.
